Emerald & Big Guy

Chapter 5

All the girls get in one vehicle: Flora, Mya, Ny, Bree, myself, and Tonya. Tonya is Titan's girlfriend and mother of their 3 year old son Gregory. All the guys hop in a large van: Mya's dad Diesel, three brothers and nephew Xavier, Titan, Hakeem, and Gregory. Plus Hakeems friends Shaquille and Malcolm.

It's a short drive about 5 minutes, but it takes near 40 minutes to find a spot. The a.c doesn't work, so you could just imagine how hot it was. I'm frustrated, because I know how to fix it, but say nothing. I know the entire workings of a car, bus, plane, you name it. Education is what I live for.  When I was a child I got into trouble in school from boredom. I felt that I wasn't learning, when I knew everything that was being taught. My teachers suggested I be tested to gage what level I needed to be placed at. They found my IQ to be 189. I was considered to be beyond a genius. I graduated high school at 9 and got my first masters degree at 13. I was ecstatic to learn about and teach everything. After some unfortunate events, I bottled everything in. I understood that it was best to stay quiet, keep my thoughts to myself. To be...normal.

It was 102 degrees and all the windows were down and we were not happy people. The second we park everyone gets out and runs to the water except Flora, Tonya, and myself. Flora and I wanted to lay out in the sun for a while and Tonya apparently didn't want to "ruin my hair" or "watch the brat so he doesn't drown". Gregory. She's referring to Gregory. Her child.... I could tell the comment really pissed off Flora, by the way she looked at an oblivious Tonya. She then left to go shopping along the boardwalk, taking Titan's credit card with her.

"I really don't understand that girl. You know, she didn't use to be like that. She was actually a really sweet girl. They met his sophomore year in college. But after she got pregnant with Greg she just became a whole different person. Titan just refuses to see it. I bet he is trying to make his family work but she is here for his money only. She cares nothing about him or Greg. He deserves so much more. But my baby is so traditional, even though they aren't married he refuses to split." Flora

"I believe everything happens for a reason. Whether as a reward or lesson. Nothing changes until you accept what is and actively work on doing what is necessary." I say shrugging.

"Yeah. I just wish.." Before she could finish I'm snatched up and thrown over a shoulder. I hear the girls laughing and Titan talking as he continues to walk.

"You know you're a lot lighter than I thought. You must float very easily." Titan

"Titan put me down!"

"Or what buttercup? Hey that rhymes ha!"

"I swear to goodness if you don't put me down..."

"Your wish is my command buttercup." I now realize he's going to throw me into the ocean and fear consumes me.

"No no no Titan don't I.."
I gasp as I feel myself being launched in the air.
