7. Hometown for the Holidays

Tyler still had some games to play before he met you in your hometown with both of your families. The two of you were overly bummed it was all away games or you would have stayed in town with him. But instead you and the pups loaded in his jeep and drove up to your parent's place. During your drive Tyler literally called every 40 minutes to check in on you if he wasn't on the ice. One of the times he called you joked around about if he was really just worried about his Jeep and the four dogs. "how could you say that?!" he snapped at you then you got a full lecture on how worried he was of you driving alone with the dogs, which you appreciated his concerned but just rolled your eyes constantly and turned his volume down on the phone.

"sweetheart, I'm sorry, I was just messing around with you. But thank you for making time pass by fast with that rant." You tried to make him laugh a little before hanging up because you both never like to end a call angry. You could hear him sigh and take a long deep breath, "it's okay, my love, I'm bad with catching sarcasm right now I guess. I snapped at Jamie and Rad earlier too. I just want to be with you so I know you are safe." He whined and you just chuckled. "you just want to be in control" this caused you both to laugh hard, thankfully he caught the joke because that was quite the risky comment to make with his snappy attitude right now.

After exchanging adorable I love yous and him calling out to the dogs about his love for them you both said goodbye... until his next call. This boy was your heart and soul; you couldn't stop smiling as you sang along to every song coming up on shuffle, while you came close to the end of your journey and thinking about the holidays with your families plus your inevitable move to Dallas after the new year. Tyler hadn't bugged you at all about the move after you finally said yes to moving to Dallas with him. Now his new thing was talking about coming to the cottage more, going to your parents a lot, and really just any sort of traveling. It truly warms your heart when he starts telling you about all the dreams he has for you both. You don't even have a chance to coming on one dream and he's already moved on to explaining another dream. "You can't go running, Y/n. End game, baby" is a phrase he always likes to say when you tell him to chill on announcing the dreams.

You pull up to your parents' place and they are already out front with your brother and sister ready to help with the dogs and bags. "THANK YOU!" you yell before you have even put the car in park after pulling into the driveway. Your sister is the first to the car and slowly opens the door to grab Y/D/N's collar while your brother has run to the other side to grab Gerry's collar. Those two are only a few months apart so they are still overly excited about anything and everything. Marshall and Cash on the other hand just need to have a guide into the house and they are good to go. Once the dogs and bags are all inside you finally rush to hug your family. You are so happy to be back with your family that you just flop onto the living floor and talk their ears off for what feels like ages. Your mom jumps in and asks, "So whatever happened to that film crew following you?" you chuckle because honestly whether they are around or not you never know because you got so used to them. "They have been mostly with Ty on the road right now. They have just filmed me on facetime with him, probably to save money and not hire a second crew." You laugh, "but they will probably come when Tyler gets here to film all of us together with him and his family" your family rolls their eyes but they are also completely fine with it, "if it was anyone else I would say absolutely no cameras but it's for Seg so it's fine" your brother says and dad nods in agreement. This kid could make your family agree to anything, which could be dangerous.

As you sit down for dinner you remember, "OH yeah, I believe Tyler's family will be in sometime tomorrow." Your mom gives you a smirk, "you think his mother and I haven't been talking and planning every waking moment" you and your siblings look at eachother with terror in your eyes. "oh relax we aren't that bad" she starts laughing. "Mom, I'm beginning to regret introducing you two" you say to her but she just laughs more. Your sister grins, "based on Ty we're going to be dealing with them for a very long time." You choke on your drink, "sorry what?" she laughs, "Tyler has mentioned how in love he is maybe once or twice." She winks and continues, "so it's safe to say you will be with him for the rest of your life." You don't know whether to smile or cry because damn that is sweet of him but also overwhelming. "Relax, the kid isn't proposing anytime soon. He hasn't talk to me yet" you father smiles proudly. He is happy that Tyler is the traditional type. You jokingly act like you are patting away sweat from your brow and everyone laughs.

You finish dinner and take your plate to the sink right as your phone rings. It's a facetime from Tyler and your mom answers. You are in the background laughing when he gets startled and apologizes thinking he accidentally dialed her instead. "Don't worry sweetie. You called Y/N, she was just putting her dishes in the sink." She smiles and passes the phone to me, "Hi darling." You say to him while you walk out to the backyard with dogs. "Hi angel! I can't wait to see you in a few days! My mom and sisters should be there tomorrow. I called to check in with her and she made fun of me for obsessing over this trip." You both laugh, "well my mom mocked me for not thinking our moms were in contact. Ty they talk probably all day long in texts and have at least one call to eachoher a day. We've created a force I don't think we wanted" Tyler throws his head back into the biggest laugh, "no I don't think we do. But I kind of love it" he smiles, "I'm really happy, angel." You stare at him in awe, "I really am too" he smiles back.

"I am so sorry I've got to run to a team dinner. Stupid time zones. I love you. I'll talk to you tomorrow." He says with the cutest puppy dog pout I've seen to date. "Put that lip away, it's all okay. I need to get some sleep, the drive wore me out. I love you too, gorgeous." And with that you both said your final goodbyes, he blew you a little kiss and he was gone. You threw some balls for the pups for a bit then went back inside with the dogs all following you closely. "babies you can stay down here if you want. Mama is going upstairs." You walk but they keep following you, Gerry is looking around a bit, "papa will be home in a couple days" you tell them. Your parents laugh, not even at you but at the fact you can see the dogs actually are listening to you. "Well goodnight all of you" your mom calls out. "Goodnight! Love you all! " you yell through the house with a smile t as you hear four more goodnights.

Finally you make your way into your old room which thankfully has a king sized bed because the second you are dressed for bed and get in suddenly all four dogs jump up do cuddle in with you. "you all are ridiculous" you laugh as you give them all kisses before falling asleep for the evening. Your final thought before you fell asleep was how Tyler was even going to fit in this bed if these pups tried this every night.
