I sighed a deadly sigh, wincing in pain from the bite. The open wound lay viciously on the palm of my hand, pulsing; echoing like a grandfather clock. Tick, tock, tick, tock beats the bass drum of my bone, my flesh and veins piercing the sunlight peering through smoke-stained windows. Fearfully, I twisted the rust-corrupted locks on the door, my heart rate staggering. Acknowledging my surroundings, I placed my hand on nearby furniture and fell to the ground, all hope evaporated. I have to leave this deathtrap, before it traps me.
