“Danny don’t do that.” I scolded staring at my six year old brother who was smirking at me. When did he become such a devil? He used to be so sweet, when he was asleep.
“Give me the cookie.” He held out his hand while the other dangled my phone over the toilet.
“I will just step away from the toilet and give me back my phone.” I pleaded choosing my words carefully.
“Really?” He stared at me curiously.
“Yeah, sure whatever, come on.” I nodded eagerly smiling at him silently praying he took the bait.
“How do I know you’re not lying?” He asked lowering his hand closer to the water in the toilet.
“Please, Danny.” I pleaded with him.
“Nora-,” Hunter came in stopping once he saw Danny holding my phone. He smirked, “Nice one Dan.”
“Hunter!” I slapped him on the back of the head, causing Danny to laugh.
“Oops.” Danny muttered and my eyes flashed to him in a second. His hand was empty as he peered over the bowl.
“No!” I screamed, “No. No. No.” I chanted running over to it and sure enough laying in the water was my phone.
I heard Hunter laughing and high fiving Danny while I stared in horror at my phone. “Brilliant Danny.” Hunter congratulated him.
“Not.” I scolded the both of them, “Please tell me that I can get a new one.”
“I don’t know. Call dad, oh wait-,” He smirked.
“Hunter!” I screamed. He grabbed Danny’s hand and ran down the stairs and outside. “Hunter don’t.” I yelled at him as he got into the car, rolling down the window.
“Sorry sis. Can’t hear you.” He gestured to his ear before rolling up the window with a smirk on his face and driving away.
“Oh my God!” I yelled frustrated at the empty house slamming the front door shut. What am I supposed to do now? I stepped into the kitchen and dialed Grace’s number, I waited patiently for her to answer and after a minute it went to voicemail. I sighed in frustration slamming the phone back on the charger.
I picked up the phone and dialed the familiar number hoping that was where Hunter was too. “Hello?” His voice asked. My heart fluttered and my face heated up over the phone.
“Hey it’s Nora.” I said into the phone. I heard him laugh at me and I imaged him smirking.
“Hey, you alright?” He asked after a moment, he sounded worried.
“Alright, I guess. Is Hunter there?” I asked looking out the front window waiting for him to reappear.
“No, why? Is everything alright?” He asked and I heard shuffling on his end.
“Everythings fine.” I laughed a little, “I’m looking for Hunter and I thought he’d be with you.”
“Na he’s not here, but uh can I ask you why?”
“Why what?” I asked confused. Why I thought he’d be with him?
“Why are you looking for him? Did he do something?”
“Yeah, well no not really.” I sighed as I thought about it. “It was mostly Danny but Hunter annoyed me so..” I trailed off.
“What Danny do?” He asked smirking a little. He sounded like he was trying not to laugh.
“He-,” I stopped myself as realization hit me, he knew. “I hate you.”
“What?” He gasped. “Nora?”
“I hate you. Hunter’s there isn’t he?”
“I’m-,” He started but I cut him off.
“Isn’t he?” I practically shouted.
“Yeah, look Nora I’m sor-,” He tried again.
“Still hate you.” I told him before hanging up. I sighed in frustration putting my head in my hands I didn’t hate him, not even close. I was just annoyed and hurt, he lied to me but Hunter was his friend and I was... I don’t know what I was. He’s best friend’s little sister? His little sister’s best friend? Either way he shouldn’t care about me so it’s fine. He was having fun with his friend. I nodded slightly as the phone rang. I picked it up without looking at the caller id but the moment he spoke I knew he it was anyway.
“I’m sorry, look Hunter-,” He began and I smiled. He called me back!
“Asher.” I cut him off, “It’s okay honestly.”
“No it’s not, you hate me.” He sighed and I smiled as my heart flipped.
“I don’t hate you,” I whispered quietly.
“You don’t? But you said,” He trailed off, “it doesn’t matter I guess. So we're good?”
“Great.” I told him as I watched an unfamiliar car pull up into my driveway. “Oh no.” I whispered.
“Oh no? Nora are you okay?” Asher asked worriedly on the phone.
A golden haired boy got out of the driver’s seat. A young girl around Danny’s age along with another boy who was younger then them both got out of the back. It was Harry with his sister, Bethany and his brother Elijah. They all looked the same with golden hair and green eyes but Beth’s hair was longer.
“Harry!” I flew open the door and ran to hug him.
“Hey RaRa.” He smiled when I pulled away. I glared at him slightly before I smiled at him. “You remember Beth and Eli, right?”
“Of course.” I laughed smiling at them. They halfway hid behind Harry, showing me that they didn’t remember me. “I’m Nora.”
They both nodded and gave me small smiles. “you busy?” Harry asked and I shook my head.
“No not at all. Come in.” I smiled and then frowned in confusion when I heard his voice.
“Nora? Nora what’s going on? Why won’t you answer me? Nora?”
I brought the phone to my ear and smiled, “Hey Ash, everything’s fine. Tell Hunter to get home soon, we have company.”
“What?” He asked, “Who’s there?”
“Harry.” I told him and he ended the call.
