I opened my mouth to scream, but it was parched. No sound came out. The rat or rather Simon, was a pet of Benjamin's and as soon as I saw it, realization hit me and I understood that Ben was here to free us. What a relief!
Benjamin had already unlocked Clovis and now was working upon my cell while Clove kept an eye on the incoming guards. As soon as my door unlocked, I rushed out and me and Clovis followed Benjamin straight ahead, then to the left and then a few metres up ahead there was a staircase. All along the way, the other few members of the prison were screaming syllables that were hard to figure out, but I got the basic idea. They were furious. We got to escape, to be free, in such a short time, and they didn't.
"Wait."cautioned Benjamin. "Don't climb the stairs."
"Where do we go then?" asked an alarmed Clovis.
"Look behind!" I shouted.
There were 3 guards against us 3 with deadly weapons to knock us off. One of them was just going to hit Clovis on the head, when at the nick of time, Clovis ducked.
"Woosh!" he exclaimed with relief.
I didn't know how to fight these men.Sure we'd had a few karate and Sword & Knife classes, but I didn't have any Sword or any knife and we were at the basic levels of Karate which doesn't make me a strong opponent against the heavily armed and trained guards.
But I did what my companions were doing.
I tried.
Well to be honest, Benjamin's trying didn't seem like trying. And believe me when I say it, he was a really good fighter. I guess he hadn't had much practice in a long while, he was like a slightly blunt pencil; it had the power to work, to write but needed a tad bit of sharpening. However, among the 3 of us, he was the best shot we had.
Clovis on the other hand, was the same as me. A new pencil, that required a lot of sharpening.
The guard threw a kick in a circular motion, from left to right followed by a punch and I couldn't help but laugh, it was as if I was watching babies acting as Ninja Turtles.
"What are you laughing at?" inquired the guard heavily. I seemed to have stopped him in his tracks.
Clovis and Benjamin both looked at me with surprised expressions.
"Nothing. Just that this whole situation seems a bit hilarious to me." I lied.
"How so?"
"I'd better not say it." I said as I didn't know what else to defend myself with.
The guards were actually stupid. They didn't realize that I was trying to buy us time. What was to be done with the extra time, depended on Clovis and Benjamin.
"Young girl you better say it. Already you're going to suffer a great punishment, you wouldn't want to make it worse now, would you?" said the second guard with a sly grin.
"You see you were so busy in finding out why she thought the situation was so funny, that you didn't pay attention to what we did." said Clovis from behind me. I could sense the smile decorating his face.
I then turned to see what these two clever nincompoops had done. I blinked me eyes thrice; I couldn't believe what I was seeing. There was a translucent barrier between the guards and us, and my best guess was that they couldn't get past that barrier. Just as if trying to clear my doubts, the guards try to surpass it, and they aren't able to. They aren't hurt, by any kind of 'shock' or 'setback' just aren't able to come to the other side. They shot us angry glares and one of them said, " You little brats."
