Artemis told us to follow us to the hut where the remnants of William's possessions could be seen. The hut was larger from the inside. The paint on the bedroom's wall was chipping and the roof needed repair. Regardless, it had a sort of comfortable vibe to it with the four poster bed and the dirty white bedsheets and pillows. The room, like the rest of the house seemed untouched. There was a living room, kitchen and a bathroom.
'Shouldn't the place be in ruins or something? It feels as we traveled back in time.' said Melissa clearly awestruck
Artemis replied, " From time to time official visits are made to clean the place and maintain the beauty. However, it is done in such a way that the originality is maintained. "We spend about 10 more minutes inside and then were ushered outside.
"You have half an hour to look around the place. Mind you. This is a field trip. So you should better make notes than self portraits."
"Self potraits? What are we living in the 18th century?" Said Clovis in amazement.
Clovis and I went behind a tree, not to kiss( as Liberty thought), but to talk.
"This guy...is Benjamin's ancestor?"
"Yes. But there's something I don't understand." Said a puzzled Clovis.
"Why is Ben in the facility but not Alejandro?" I voiced his thoughts.
"Exactly but we have to find out what's all the mess about."
*Specially when it concerns them as it gives me an apprehension that it might have something to do,maybe indirectly, with us."
We didn't want to see anymore of the garden. I won't lie, the places was extravagant but the mystery was what was covering the larger part of my mind. We manoeuvred into the house once again, and were once again in the paradoxically broken but beautiful living room. It had a 40-50 year old worn out sofa with the filling oozing out of nooks and crannies and there was a dresser cum bookshelf adorned with books ranging from Dickens to "The World's Greatest Mysteries: Uncovered.
"Now what are we searching for ?" I asked.
"Clues."
"Oh right. Why didn't I think of that?" I said sarcastically.
He chuckled." Just look around for anything interesting."
"We don't have that much time. Why don't you look around the room and I search the bookshelf. There's a greater statistical probability that something is going to be there."" You mean like a family album ."
"Exactly."I didn't give much attention to what Clovis was doing. Being an avid reader myself, I was more intrigued by the books than by the broken vase and years old bread crumbs scattered all around the floor. I choosed all the books that seemed that they could have clues, which were most of them, but one look at my watch told me that we did not have more than 5 minutes left.
"Clovis, there's no time left and I haven't even searched one book properly."
"Don't worry. I have an idea."
"You always have ideas. But the question is how effective they are."
"Stop worrying. With my psychokinesis, I'm going to manipulate time."
"What? That's not possible. You can only create shields and move stuff."
"I think I know more about my powers more than you do." he said rudely. " Since we need atleast 3 hours to do our stuff, I'm going to move time backwards, which is at a distance, which is what precisely my powers are."
"What if someone finds out?"
"They won't. We won't be missing." he pointed out. "And when they come inside the house, we'll hide."
