Earned It

Part 17

Veronica  POV 

A week ago I did the photo shoot for vogue and today I got the magazine. I'm currently in my office trying to finish some late work on my computer.

I've been very busy today and working some extra hours will be worth it.

It's 8:17pm and I decided to go to a restaurant and have a glass of wine.

I quickly took my phone out and called Catherine.
"Hey Catherine do you want to have a glass of wine with me?".

"Sure, what restaurant?" She asked.

"Le bernardin, it's about 30 minutes away from the company". I responded to her question.

"OK, be there in 30, bye" with that I hung up the phone and waited for Catherine.

"Hey! how have you been?" I asked Catherine when she came and sat down.

"Good, but why did you choose this place" she asked while looking around.

I raised an eyebrow at her signaling for her to continue.

"I mean don't get me wrong it's a VERY nice place, she said "but... it is very expensive!" She whispered the last part, making me chuckle.

"Well the food is very good here" I responded to her question while looking at the menu. "What would you like to eat?" I asked her, while looking up.

"I'll just have a pasta" she said.

"And I'll have a salad with grilled chicken " I told the waiter when he came.

"What would you like to drink" the waiter asked.

"We'll have a bottle of your finest red wine, please" after the waiter took our orders he left.

"So, how is it going with the hotel project?" I asked her.

"It's going very well just that I think they are a little scared of you" she answered while smiling.

Right after she finished talking the waiter came with our food, he put it down and walked away.

"Well, in this job you have to be serious and cold, and the effect of that is people being scared of you". I said while taking a sip of my glass of red wine.

After that we just kept on talking until we saw it was 10:33 PM and I decided to invite her over to sleep since it was pretty late.

We made our way out of the restaurant as I called Paulo.

"Who's Paulo?" Asked Catherine.

"He is my driver, has been since I started my company" I told her.

Paulo is a 30 year old man with a beautiful family. He was one of the many people I helped. I saw him in the streets polishing shoes trying to earn money for his family. At that time I was 20 and had barely started my company, so I decided to help. I bought him and his family a house of their choice and helped them with their kids education.

After 5 minutes Paulo came and quickly got out of the car and opened the door for us.

"Thank you" I said, he just bowed his head once in a polite manner.

Once we arrived to my house the first thing I heard was ' WOW ' from Catherine. "You really live in this huge mansion by yourself" she said making me chuckle.

"It must have costed millions" she said once we were inside.

"It all comes with lots of hard work" I told her while walking up stairs to show her her room. Once we got there I turned around to face her.

"Well goodnight" I said walking up to the third floor where my bedroom was, and took a shower to relax myself after a good 35 minutes I came out and got into my nighty.

I went downstairs to get a cup of coffee, then went back upstairs to my office where I finished some work. Later, when I saw it was 1:00 AM I headed to my room.

Getting into a deep slumber.
