Chapter 18

You didn't expect to wake up to the sound of gunshots. The door burst open and Queen Naria said, "We have to leave." You stop, "What about Namjoon?" Another gunshot interrupted her reply.

Namjoon said, "Jin, cover for me." Jin nods, "Of course." He had to find you....before Hanson's cronies do. Namjoon saw his mother and asked, "Mother, where is she?" She points to where you were shaking in fear.

You were terrified. "Baby.." You hear Namjoon speak up, "Hey....it's okay." You hear another gunshot and jump. Namjoon adds, "I can't stay." You reply, "Do you...do you have to go out there?" He rested his forehead against yours, "I'm not going to die. I will make sure that we live our future together. I will be there for our baby and for you." Jin came in and said, "Namjoon, father needs our help with our troops." You look at him and whisper, "Go. Defeat Hanson's cronies." Namjoon didn't move from his position. Namjoon cups your cheeks, "Y/N...I'm sorry." His lips brush softly against your own. Namjoon deepens the kiss by gently pressing you against him. He kisses the top of your head and says, "Be safe, my love." You watch him run after Jin.

Namjoon watches worriedly as Jin and Taehyung both fend off Hanson's men. "Son." Namjoon listens as his father speaks, "Son...no...Namjoon, I know you're thinking of her. Do not worry. We will defeat them." Namjoon was suddenly thrown back by a bomb. Jin screams, "Namjoon!" Namjoon struggled but he managed to get up. Jin runs over to him, "Are you hurt?" He shook his head, "I'll live."

You gently rub your belly and think about Namjoon. "Mother..." Queen Naria's eyes water, "My sweet Tae Tae!" Taehyung runs to your side and gently speaks, "Its okay, noona. Namjoon hyung wanted me to stay here with you." He quietly asked, "Is it too late to say congratulations?" You laugh quietly, "No, of course not. Thanks, Tae." Taehyung's expression falters as he speaks, "Namjoon hyung got hurt, noona. Father doesn't know how bad it is but hyung is being stubborn about it." Taehyung puts a hand on your shoulder and adds, "He's worried about you. Namjoon doesn't want you to worry." Easier said than done.

Meanwhile, Jin stared at the unconscious body of his younger brother. He bit his lip and felt tears well up in his eyes. He says, "Namjoon...why?" "Where is he?" Jin froze, "Y/N...you shouldn't be here." You reply, "If I'm not there, who will be there in my stead? Even if he's hurt, I'm not leaving him." Jin sighs, "He was shot twice. The doctor said he was lucky none of the wounds hit any of his major nerves." You both freeze when you hear a cough. You spoke with relief, "Namjoon..." Jin said, "I let you both talk." Namjoon was about to speak when you burst into tears. You cry out, "You idiot! I thought I lost you forever!" Namjoon takes your hand and pulls you toward him. You hear him speak, "Dove...no Y/N, I'll always be there for you. I won't let anything tear us apart." He gently strokes your hair and you bite your lip in response. "Y/N." More tears well up in your eyes. You gasp when you are suddenly lifted into Namjoon's lap. You ask, "Aren't you in pain?" His forehead rests against yours and he replies, "I've had worse." You respond, "Namjoon..." He asked, "Can I kiss you?" You don't answer and feel Namjoon's fingers brush against your cheek. His lips softly brush against yours as you feel Namjoon's hand cup your cheek. When he pulls away, you feel Namjoon entwine your hand with his own.

Namjoon had fallen asleep about ten minutes later. Your heart hurt when you saw how broken he appeared to be. You brush your fingers through his hair. You quietly say, "I'm so afraid of what will happen if you don't survive the next attack, Namjoon. I don't want to just stand and watch while you risk your life for the safety of the kingdom." "Noona.." You look up, "Jungkook?"

Jungkook and Hoseok had come to Cortalia in wake of Namjoon's severe injuries. They had also come when they learned about your pregnancy. You and Jungkook were now in Namjoon's office. Jungkook says, "Noona, you look so pretty." You blush, "N-No..not at all." You look out the window and reply, "Namjoon and I have been through a lot. When I learned that I was pregnant, I was afraid of what he might say." Jungkook notices the sad look in your eyes. He finally spoke, "Noona, I know things have been difficult for you. Namjoon hyung loves you and only wants you to be happy. He won't admit it but he always talks about you. Hyung hasn't been this happy in a long time." You try to stand but you almost fall. Jungkook easily catches you and asked, "N-Noona?" You breathe out, "I'm okay. It's just an effect of the pregnancy." Jungkook breathes out a sigh of relief.
