Chapter 12

You had locked yourself in your bedroom when you got home. Lisa was absolutely furious and angered over the news. From what Jennie told the both of you, your parents were casually enjoying dinner together when they had suddenly collapsed. Lisa heard you crying and it broke her heart.

"WHAT?!?!" King Hyeon's voice booms in the audience chamber. Queen Naria says, "Dear, please calm down. There is no need to yell like this." The king calmed down and asked, "How did this happen?" Kai replies, "Lady Y/N's parents were dining when they suddenly felt unwell and collapsed. They are in the hospital as we speak." The Jeon and Kim princes all look at one another. Yoongi spoke up, "This couldn't have just happened by coincidence." Namjoon asked, "Hold on Yoongs, what are you trying to say?" Yoongi replies gravely, "Someone may be targeting Y/N's family....and I think she's the next target." All the princes became worried at the revelation.

Namjoon and Jin decide to visit your parents in the hospital. When they enter their room, their heart clench at the sight. Both of them were unconscious which made Namjoon quake in anger. Jin quietly says, "Calm down, Namjoon. I know you're angry but think of Y/N. She must be hurting more than we are." Namjoon looks at your parents and whispers, "I will find out who did this to you both. I will protect you and my princess. If I have to lose my life, then so be it."

Lisa knocks on your door, "Y/N, you should eat something." Lisa come into your room and places a tray on your side table. She kisses the top of your head and says, "Don't worry, baby sister. The police will find out who did this to Mom and Dad. I'll do everything I can to protect us both. I promise you that I won't let any goons lay a hand on you." You say quietly, "Lisa....I have to protect you too. What kind of princess would I be if I couldn't protect my own sister?" Lisa rubs your back, "You are going to be such an amazing and dedicated princess." You respond with a sigh, "You're only saying to make me feel better." "She's right." You both look up to see Namjoon and Jin standing in front of you. Jin said, "Father is talking to the authorities about the poisoning." Jin spoke strictly, "We will find out who did this and they WILL face the consequences." You abruptly said, "I'm going to get some air." They all watch you leave. Namjoon stares at the empty spot where you last stood.

You rest your forehead on the railing of your balcony. You think, "What's the point? How am I supposed to protect Lisa when I can't even protect my own parents? I can't even stay emotionally sound for even a mere moment." "Y/N..." You turn around, "Oh...Jin." You finally ask, "How did you find out?" Jin responds with a bitter tone, "It seems like the perpetrator had some help. That bastard will wish he never crossed paths with the royal family." This was the first time you had seen Jin angry like this. Jin calms down when he notices your expression. "JIN! GET IN HERE! SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH LISA!" Your eyes widen, "LISA! NO! LISA, WAKE UP!!"

You hadn't spoken since Lisa had been taken to the hospital. Jin whispers to Namjoon, "Go. She needs you more than before. Jungkook, Tae and I can take care of this." Namjoon asks, "Are you sure?" Jin nods, "Of course. Y/N will be my sister when the time comes, right? You're her prince...so stay with your princess." Namjoon says, "Thank you, brother." Jin waves him off, "Yeah yeah. Just go protect Y/N."

You hadn't realized you had fallen asleep until you felt something covering your body. You look around and the house is somewhat silent. You see Namjoon coming towards you, tray in hand. He sets the tray down and brings you into his arms. You hear Namjoon speak up, "I know things are difficult right now. Know that I'm here for you." He was about to leave but you say, "Stay...please." Your tone of voice broke his heart. He kisses your hand and says, "My sweet dove, I'm sorry that you have to suffer like this. I....I don't think we should see each other." You had tears in your eyes, "What....What are you saying?" Namjoon replies, "Y/N...we should break up." I'm sorry Y/N....I'm doing this to protect us both.
