"Are you ready yet?", my best friend Beka asked me, "I have been waiting for over an hour and we wanted to get there early to try and meet them before the concert!" She was talking about our favorite band 5 Seconds Of Summer, who we have been obsessed with since the "feels" kicked in back in 2012. "Yeah, hold on i'm almost ready, just let me check I have the Check-In papers for the hotel and all that." We were going to stay in a hotel after the concert because the drive was quite a trek and the concert finished at 10 PM.
Once I had everything sorted out, I dragged my bags out to Beka's car and put them in the boot.. "Damn girl, how many bags could one girl possibly need for one night?!", Beka laughed. I shrugged down into my seat and turned up the radio.
As we pulled out of the driveway, "Maps" by Maroon 5 started playing and we both sang along. "Hey, I skipped breakfast... can we stop at Dunkin' Donuts?" "We just set off and you are already thinking about food?!"
Before I knew it, Beka was turning into Dunkin' Donuts. "Oh my darling, I knew you could not resist", I said in a strange English accent smirking. Although Beka laughed, I swear she would have ripped the steering wheel off and smacked the smirk right off my face there and then. "Just be quick. I don't want to miss our one chance of meeting them!", she replied.
I grabbed our usual, one maple glazed and one blueberry donut and two large lattes to go. I quickly paid and dashed back to the car. "Sydney, here we come!", said Beka excitedly.
After about three pointless hours of sitting in the car, changing the radio station and talking about how hot the boys are, we finally made it to the venue.
As we made our way over to the Sound check que, we noticed that there was lots of screaming, crying and heart attacks going on. We dashed over to some girls and asked what had just happened.
One of the girls took out her phone and showed us a picture because she was too emotionally unstable to talk to us. The picture was her and Calum.
My heart burst into a thousand pieces. Beka dragged me to one side and stared at me like I was dead meat. "I got up at 4 AM this morning, waited an hour and a half for you to be ready and drove 3 hours to get here. If you hadn't have made me stop for donuts we would have met them! It's all your fault!", she cried.
As we had 5 hours left before the concert, we decided there was no point in waiting in line. So we decided to go check in to the hotel.
Beka was hardly speaking to me. Once we were in the hotel room, I looked at the tickets and noticed that we had Sound Check tickets! The Sound Check included a Q&A with the band!
"OMG! I just checked the tickets and we have Sound Check! How could we not have noticed? Beka we are going to talk to them!", I squealed. Beka jumped up off the sofa and stared at me unsure wondering if I was playing some kind of evil joke on her or not.
