  I stare at my mom in disbelief. She can't be having a child by Lance.

  "Stop lying mom." She scrunched her eyebrows at me and scratched her head. "I'm not. And don't you ever call me a liar." I roll my eyes at the last part and get up and walk away. "Try not to fuck up this kids life."

  She grabs my wrist and places my hand on her stomach, "No sweetie.. This is your blood sibling. This child is coming from the same place you came from." It took a while to sink in.. then I finally realized. All of my questions were answered.

  If my mother wasn't actually on the corner who was she pleasing? Where was my father's money going to recently? Why were they always on the phone? Where did he go late at night?

  "My father is the father. That's not my half sibling? Mom.. Lance will kill you when he finds out. He's not that dumb. Dad could get killed too. But you didn't think about that did you?"

  She blinked rapidly and wiped her eyes, "I'm sorry that every time I do something it doesn't seem like I think about you. But I do Maxxine. You're the only thing I think of. You don't think about me.. EVER. I try to be a perfect mother but it's hard. Maxxine I love you.. I love your father.. I want us to be a family again."

  I tug away from her and run to my car. I get in and speed off to somewhere no one would expect me to go.

  I pull up at my school and just sit in my car as I ignore the text messages coming from everyone asking where I'm at and Daniels phone calls are being sent straight to voice mail.

  As I rest my head back someone opens my door , "Hey beautiful." My head snaps up. Immediately I make it look like I'm tugging on my door but I call Daniel so he can hear. Shep grabbed my wrist just as I hide my phone.

  I look in my rear view mirror and see that Debra is in my back seat.

"Wow Maxxine.. lookin' good. So.. you just thought that we would leave you two alone.. you thought wrong then sweets. See.. Daniel has something that belongs to me and you have something that belongs to Debra.. and we want them."

  It only took that to scare me enough to speak in code to Daniel hoping he picked up "Well.. who would ever threaten someone at our school. Do you know random people could pop up."

  If he picked up then his ass better had catched on to every hint. As soon as Shep was about to speak a sleek black car pulls up beside me slide into yo dms like..

  My face brightens up at the sight of Daniel. Debra hops out and walks up to Daniel I swear of she touches him I'm gonna rip her weave out. Shep glares at me "You just rely on him don't you. When did you become so weak Maxxine? You're whole family is weak so it doesn't surprise me. It wouldn't surprise me if I catch you on the corner one day.. like mother like daughter."

  Before it fully registered he was already out of my car. I get out the car and Daniel runs to me and touches my cheek "Are you okay baby? Did he hurt you? Did she hurry you? Why'd you leave you mom, what'd she do?"

  I smile lightly at him and hug him "I'm not hurt. I don't think so but I have a lot to tell you about my mom. Let's go to your place, I can't look at my dad right now."

  He shakes his head yes and kisses my forehead. We walk to our cars and I follow him to his loft.

  When we get inside we both sit on the couch. I catch him up on everything while trying to understand it myself.
