She was here. I couldn't go down there and face her. Fucking pussy. Get down there and face her. I walked down the stairs, and into the living room. Haydin sat there looking around. "Dmitry," I looked back at my father. He walked up to me. "She needs to take the Code of Omertà if you're going to continue to see her." I nodded. I walked over by her. She looked up at me. "Dmitry." I nodded at her, not saying anything to her. Her eyes traveled down to my hand. "You're hurt." I shook my head. "I'm fine." Dad came in from the kitchen, towards Haydin and I. "Haydin it's nice to meet you, I'm Greyson Kennmore. You might have heard of me." She stood up, shaking his hand. "It's nice to meet you sir. May I ask why I am here?" Dad and I looked at each other. "This conversation would be more suitable in my office." Haydin looked at me. I followed after my father, and turned to see Haydin still siting down. "You wouldn't want to keep him waiting." She stood up, and followed behind me. I stopped abruptly, causing her to bump into me. I turned, and stroked her cheek. "Non avere paura." I kissed her forehead, and walked in. Dad stood in his office with his arms folded. "Please, have a seat." She sat down slowly looking around the office. "As you may know Ms. Strauss, I am a very successful business man in the entire state of New York, but what you don't know is I am also the most powerful, fearful Mafia boss in the entire world and my son here is next in line for Capo." She looked back at me, eyes wide with fear. "We limit our trust amongst people outside the gang, but seeing as my son is infatuated with you he's ensuring that he trusts you enough to tell you this information. If you choose to accept, you'll be under our protection, call it 'witness protection'."
"Wha-what if I-I don't accept?" Dad looked up at me. "Then we would be forced to kill you." She looked back at me frantically. I didn't look at her, my focus was on my father. "And if I accept?"
"Then like I said, you will be under our protection and become one of us." She looked down. "You have to accept the Code of Omertà meaning a code of silence about criminal activity and a refusal to give evidence to any authorities. Although we have a lot of them on our side, there are some you cannot trust. Being that you are with my son, if you betray us, we will not hesitate to kill you." She looked back at me. "What is that?"
"Whoever appeals to the law against his or her fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of her or himself without police protection is both. It is cowardly to betray an offender to justice, even though his offenses be against yourself, as it is not to avenge an injury by violence. It is dastardly and contemptible in a wounded man to betray the name of his assailant, because if he recovers, he must naturally expect to take vengeance her or himself." Dad never took his eyes off of me. "Lei non capisce." I kneeled down in front of her.
"If you don't accept the code of silence, then I can't protect you, and we will have to kill you. I don't want to kill you cara mia. If you accept, you get protection, you become one of us, and you get me." She looked me deep in the eyes. "Okay.." She whispered softly. I kissed her knuckles, and stood back up. She looked back at my father. "I accept." He nodded, and walked around his desk.
"Now it has come to my attention that there's been some questioning about Dmitry's affiliation with the gang brought on by a woman named Emma. Describe her would you?" She ran her fingers through her hair.
"She had black hair, blue eyes, she kind of had an accent I can't exactly pin point what kind it was, but she called me Petra and said I was her sister." Dad looked at me. "Did you know about this?" I sighed. "She told me about it a few days ago. I already have Emilio looking into footage from the diner." Dad sighed. "I guess we will have to work with what we've got, as of right now, you cannot go home in case the woman comes back. Dmitry will accompany you everywhere you go, and when he's not there some of our highly trained men will be there on duty. You can trust us Haydin. We are only here to protect you under no circumstances." She nodded, and tucked a stray hair behind her ear.
"Puoi davvero fidarti di lei?" I looked down at her. "Yes.." He nodded. "Then it's settled. Dmitry will show you around, and hopefully you understand how important everything I've covered with you is." She nodded. "Yes sir." She stood from the chair, and headed for the door. "Non fare qualcosa che vorrei fare." I flipped him off, and walked her out.
She turned and looked at me. "Thank you for telling me all of this. I don't understand any of it." I stroked her cheek. "I can help you cara mia." I kissed her forehead. "You remind me so much of my mother. She would have loved to meet you." A blush formed on her face. "Come on, let me show you around." I took her hand in mind.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually falling for someone I haven't fucked before. I don't like it, but things change, people change. My mother would have been proud to meet Haydin. I know she would have loved her.
