Richie and Eddie had not seen each other in 30 years.

They were at a party. Eddie had driven some famous girl here, and she had drunkenly dragged him along to the party she was going to. He tried to convince her that it wasn't legal, or just plain a not very good idea, but she insisted. The second they walked in, she had run off to somewhere else, leaving him awkwardly standing alone. Eddie had finally grown out of his social anxiety, but this setting still made him uncomfortable.

While wondering alone, Eddie had stumbled upon a familiar face, someone he once knew.

Richie Tozier.

He knew it as soon as he saw him, he looked basically the same as he did years ago, but somehow not at all the same. He had ditched his glasses, and he had obviously gotten his nose done, and was a foot or two taller.

Richie had been leaning up against a wall, a drunk blonde girl holding onto one of his arms with both of hers, not showing sign of letting go any time soon, and a couple of other guys standing around him in conversation, laughing at every word he said.

Eddie was hesitant to go up to him, but he was happy to see his friend and slightly tipsy, so all logic immediately was thrown out the window. He walked up to Richie, feeling very confident inside. "Richie! Aren't you a sight for sore eyes?" Eddie said, all the people around going silent. "Hello." Richie replied, he looked very puzzled. "It's been a while, hasn't it?" Eddie said, the drunken girl on the other boy's arm showing pure disgust at his presence.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Richie said, using his free arm to run his hand through the girl's blonde hair.

Eddie was a bit taken aback, how could he not remember him? They were best friends for years, and for a month or two, even more than best friends.

"Eddie. Eddie Kaspbrak. Remember? We were best friends, and remember the reason we aren't friends anymore is-" Eddie stopped himself before he said too much, he luckily wasn't drunk enough to bring up his history with men. "Um, I'm really sorry. But none of this rings a bell. I don't know you." Richie replied, word slightly slurred.

"Do you not remember how we used to hang out twenty four seven? How we used to make fun of my mom's girly chick flicks together?" Eddie said, the desperation showing in his voice. The next words Richie spoke, stung Eddie so deeply that they stayed with him forever.

"Well, not all stories have a happy ending." Eddie had felt tears stinging his eyes, but he began to walk away before anybody could notice.

As he walked way, he heard some of the other guys that had been standing around Richie say "What was that about?" and Richie replying "It happens all the time, some fans have different approaches than others." making the whole group burst into intoxicated laughter.

Fan? To be belittled to a fan made Eddie's sorrow turn to anger. He knows who I am, he's just too scared to admit it. He knows what we did, and he's afraid to admit who he really is.

girl suddenly came running back up to Eddie, and he wiped the tears of anger off of his face quickly. "Thank God, I thought you had left me here for a second!" She exclaimed. She was holding a cup of some kind of alcohol, not knowing what, but Eddie snatched it from her hand and downed it in one sip. The aftertaste was probably vodka, but Eddie didn't even care what it was. Just something to help him forget. "Hey!" The girl said, snatching her cup back out of his hands.

"I think you need to get another driver." was all the man said.
