Namjoon sits vigilantly by Seokjin's hospital bed, waiting for him to wake up. Blood and urine tests had been done, which is as much as Namjoon was willing to let them do while his mate was still unconscious. At their insistence, they had also given him a small blood transfusion to make up for what he had lost.

He had insisted quite adamantly that his mate be placed in a private room, not caring about the extra cost. The alpha makes sure he's always touching his omega in some way, whether it's holding his hand, laying a hand on his cheek or forehead, or laying in bed with him. Doctors try to stop him from doing it, but his eyes flashing red was enough to make them leave him alone.

He registers the the sky transitioning from light to dark outside, and he happens a glance at his phone to see that it's eight P.M. His omega has been unconscious for nearly six hours, and the more time that passes, the more worried Namjoon gets. He knows that in Seokjin's fragile state, his emotions being all out of whack could possibly keep him form waking up. So he emits his scent in amounts that are most likely suffocating for everyone else. But if anyone else is negatively affected by it, they don't say anything, which is for the best in Namjoon's opinion.

And no one has texted him back, which he finds odd. He'd sent a message to their group chat and called and texted them all individually to try to keep them updated, all to no avail. They hadn't even read the messages. He sighs in resignation as he sets his phone down and places a kiss on his mate's forehead. "You'll be okay, Jinnie. I know you will."

Just then, a doctor comes in, and Namjoon immediately knows it's an alpha. He snaps his head up to look at him and narrows his eyes. "I said no alpha doctors."

"My apologies." The doctor bows and stays by the door, as far away from the omega as he can get while still being in the room. "The beta doctors for this floor are momentarily too busy. I just want to deliver the test results."

Namjoon relaxes slightly and doesn't move from his spot, nor does he take his eyes off of the doctor. "What are they?"

The doctor flips open a chart and skims over it for a moment before speaking. "The urine test found a slight kidney infection, and the blood test found a cervical infection. Both can be cured easily."

"Then why isn't he waking up?" Namjoon snaps.

"There may be a deeper issue. A sonogram will have to be done to find it, and I'll let his doctor know so he can perform it once Seokjin wakes up."

"And when will that be?" Namjoon's lower lip quivers, but he refuses to show weakness in front of the other alpha, so he bites down hard on his lip as he awaits the doctor's answer.

"It shouldn't be too much longer."

"They said that three hours ago," Namjoon says flatly, visibly growing more agitated, "and he hasn't even stirred at all. What the f-"

"Joonie?" A soft voice speaks from beside him.

All of the anger in the alpha quickly dissipates and he's holding his omega's hand and caressing his hair in the next second.

"I'm here, Jinnie, I'm right here." He kisses Seokjin's hand, just a light brush of his lips across his knuckles, as if a more firm touch would make him break.

"Where am I?" he asks groggily.

"We're at the hospital, baby. The one where Dr. Park works. You fainted in the restaurant, but you're going to be okay." Namjoon keeps his voice gentle and as level as he can, even though he's doing his best to fight back the tears that want to spill from his concerned brown eyes.
