- Christina's POV -

"This party is pretty good, Chrissy." Adam smiled.

"As much as I would like to take credit for it, the planner did all the work." I said.

"It's still your party either way, and it's almost as amazing as you are." He winked as I rolled my eyes and nudged him playfully.

"Adam! I haven't seen you in forever!" Rachel exclaimed, giving Adam a hug.

"Hey, Rachel." He grinned. "How have you been?"

"I've been good." She smiled, "Normally I would ask how you've been but I really need to talk to my sister."

"Well, I think I'll go and join Blake at the bar then. See you later, ladies." He said, before walking off.

"What now, Rach?" I asked.

"Jordan's here."

"What!?"

"Yeah. I saw him walk in with Max a couple of minutes ago."

"Shit. I totally forgot that I was supposed to have Max tonight." I sighed.

"You forgot?" She asked, with a raised eyebrow.

"I've had other things on my mind. Besides, the nanny has been the one doing the drop offs and pick ups. So why the hell is Jordan here?"

"You can ask him yourself 'cause he's coming right this way." She said as her eyes shifted to something-- or rather, someone-- behind me.

"Shit." I mumbled, turning around to see Jordan and Max walking hand in hand towards me.

I quickly had to shake off the thought of how cute they look together and snap back into reality. That reality being the soap opera which I call my life.

"Hey. I'm not going to lie when I say I'm surprised to see you here." I said.

"You didn't invite me?" Max asked, pouting.

"No, Max. She invited you, but she didn't invite me." Jordan said.

"That's because you wouldn't have wanted to come."

"Why not?"

"Because this is my engagement party."

Jordan looked at me blankly for a moment before finally speaking, "Goodbye, Max. I'll see you next week."

He kissed Max on the head before walking towards the door with pace.

"Christina." Rachel said, as we watched Jordan walk out. It was all she had to say, I knew exactly what she wanted me to do. Go after Jordan

I rolled my eyes at her before following Jordan out the door. I managed to get to him just before he reached his car down the street. At least it was far enough away from the house so the inevitable conversation we were about to have could go un-heard.

"Jordan, wait." I said.

"Just let me go home, Christina. I won't bother you or anyone else at your wonderful engagement party."

"Don't be like this, Jord." I said softly.

"Did you think I would just walk into this party and be totally fine with it?"

"I didn't know you were coming."

"Oh, that's right. You couldn't have possibly known I was coming since you've been ignoring me completely for the last two weeks!"

"I'm sorry--"

"No. Don't speak, just listen. We slept together, Christina, and as much as you want to deny it or forget about it, it happened."

"I cheated on my fiancé with my ex-husband. That's not a story you'd want to have to tell."

"That doesn't mean you have to ignore the fact that it happened."

"Actually, Jordan, that's exactly what it means. I want to be with Matt and right now you're the only one in my way."

"I still can't believe that you're choosing him over me."

"What did you expect? That you could sleep with me and magically make me love you?"

"I know you love me, Christina. I just never thought that you would keep denying it for this long."

"I love Matt." I said firmly.

"All he does is hurt you, Christina."

"And you don't?" I quipped.

"I know I've hurt you, and I am so sorry for everything I've done. . .but I am willing to do whatever it takes to get you back."

"You can't get me back, Jordan I'm not yours to have. I get to choose who I want to be with. I choose Matt, and there's nothing that you can say or do to change my mind."

"You really think so?"

"Yes, I do."

"Then you leave me no choice." He said as he began to walk towards me.

It was only a matter of seconds later that he pressed his lips on to mine. The kiss lasted a good thirty seconds before Jordan pulled away.

"So, are you going to tell me now that you don't love me?" He asked as he held me by the waist.

"I do love you, Jordan. . .but that's not enough. I'm sorry." I said, before I turned around and walked back towards my house.

I walked back inside where Rachel was waiting for me.

"What happened?" She asked.

"I don't want to talk about it. Where's Max?"

"Mom took him up stairs."

"I'll be back." I said, before rushing up stairs to find Max.

As I walked into Max's room I saw him sitting on his bed, talking to my mother.

"Mom, would you mind going downstairs for a little while?" I asked.

"Not at all, honey." She smiled, before giving Max a hug and walking out the room.

"Max, I need to ask you something." I said, sitting down on the bed.

"Ask whatever you want, mommy." He smiled.

"Who do you think I like better, Matt or your dad?" I asked. I know that's horrible of me to bring Max into my problems, but children have a tendency to always tell the truth. Even if it's truth you don't want to be told.

"You like them the same." He said.

"That's the problem, sweetie."

"But daddy makes you happy."

"He does?" I asked.

"You always smile when you're with him. And he always smiles when he talks about you. You and daddy make each other happy."

"You're a smart boy, Max." I smiled, pulling him in for a hug. But our mother-son bonding moment was cut short by Rachel bursting into the room.

"Christina, we have a problem. You need to come down stairs right now." She said, panicking.

"I'll be back, baby." I said, kissing Max on the cheek before following Rachel out the room.
