"So, how far is your house? Because I don't wanna walk 50,000 miles." She asked as we walked. "It's not too far, it'll probably take us like five minutes or so to get there." I replied, looking down and kicking a small pebble with the tip of my shoe.
She nodded in response, leaving us in silence afterward. I was honestly surprised when she said she'd come over. I thought she'd say something along the lines of 'no way, Harrison. Why would I go to your house? I have better things to do other than associate with a dumb magician.' Or at least, something like that.
"So. . . How's everyone at camp been since I left?" She asked, seeming a bit hesitant. "They've been good. David and Gwen are a thing now apparently," I started. "Wait, really?" She asked, sounding a bit excited. I looked over to her and nodded.
"Nurf isn't as much of an asshole since our first year, but he's still an asshole. Ered's still the same, cool. Nikki follows her around a lot, though, even after she used her that one time," I said, "Space Kid is coming up with more crazy ways to get to the moon, with some help from Dolph for some reason. Neil still seems like he hates me and Preston usually cries randomly about how much he misses you." I finished.
"Hm. Well, what about you and Max?" She asked as she looked over at me. "Well, Max is still himself, though he seems a bit happier since our first year at camp. And me. . . Wait, why do you wanna know how I've been?" I said.
She shrugged. "I dunno. Just wanted to know if ya missed me or anyth- ya know what... never mind." She responded. I gave her a curious glance, but then shrugged it off. "Is my castle still up?" She asked. "Nope, David and Gwen took it down after you left." I answered and she let out a big, dramatic gasp.
"My sweet baby!" She exclaimed, placing a hand on her head dramatically. "You've spent way too much time around Preston." I said, following it up with a laugh. "I'M OFFENDED!" She yelled, making me jump a bit.
Soon after, she erupted into a fit of laughter as I glanced over at her. "Oh that's fine. I didn't need my fucking eardrums anyway." I said, shrugging then laughing a bit afterward.
Her laughter died down as we soon approached my house. We stepped up onto the porch and I took a key from my pocket, unlocking the door then opening it. We walked in and she looked around the short hallway.
She sniffed a few times as she walked. "Your house smells like cardboard. Does that make sense?" She said, sniffing a few more times then stopping. I looked at her with a questioning look then shrugged.
We stepped into the living room and she looked around once more. I was slightly worried that she thought the house was too small or dirty, but I quickly dismissed the thought when she slumped down onto the couch.
"Already making yourself at home, I see." I said jokingly as I sat down, a good distance away, though. She didn't reply. I didn't want the room to be silent, so I reached down in front of me and grabbed the remote off of the wooden coffee table.
I turned the tv on and began flipping through channels. Nerris pulled her phone out of her pocket and began typing. She was most likely texting Preston. A few moments later, she let out a small defeated sigh.
"Preston's putting on a play- er musical or whatever in like two-three weeks and he wanted me to ask you if you wanted to go." She said, resting her head in her right hand. "Sure." I responded as I shrugged.
She nodded then began typing on her phone once more as I continued flipping through channels. "Hey, you remember our egg?" She asked out of the blue. I looked over at her, curious as to why she thought to bring that up.
"Yeah? Omlegg was going to be the best magician." I responded, exaggerating slightly. "I believe his name was Eggilos, and he was a dungeon master. Well, he was going to be..." She glared at me.
"Hey, it wasn't my fault. Well... it kind of was..." I said. "Oh it was definitely your fault. He was supposed to focus on his incantations but instead you made him do dumb magic tricks." She replied. "One, how the hell can you remember that? It was years ago, I honestly thought you'd forget. Two, he loved his tricks, thank you very much and three, you love my tricks, too!" I set the remote down on the arm of the couch.
She stopped for a second, then spoke. "N-no I don't! Where'd you get that idea?" She responded defensively. "It's obvious. When I was performing shows, you were usually there, cheering me on and such," I said, "anddd when I would show you tricks at random times, you seemed to enjoy them." I shrugged.
She didn't respond, instead she let out a small 'hmph' and crossed her arms, grumbling under her breath. After convincing myself that I had won, I smiled at my small victory then began flipping through channels once more.
