Hold On

Loving and fighting, Accusing, uniting

Phil was walking home. He and Dan got into a fight and Phil hadn't been home for a couple days. Phil knew the fight was his fault. He was just so angry and scared. He opens the door. It was unlocked. Phil thought that was strange. Dan always kept the door locked when he was home alone.  Phil called out "Dan?"

I can't imagine a world with you gone. The joy and the chaos, the demons we're made of, I'd be so lost if you left me alone

Phil checks all of the rooms. "Dan?"

You locked yourself in the bathroom. Lying on the floor when I breakthrough. 

Phil knocks on the bathroom. He waits a couple seconds and then tries to open the door. It's locked. Phil bangs on the door but still gets no response. Phil shoves himself against the door, It finally opens. Dan is lying on the floor, his eyes barely open. His arms are covered in blood. Phil starts to shake. He pulls his phone and calls an ambulance.

I pull you in to feel your heartbeat. Can you hear me screaming "please don't leave me"

Phil gets on the floor next to Dan. He holds dan in his arms. "Please don't leave me, Danny. I love you. I'm so sorry"

Dan mumbles something. Tears run down Phil's face. He grabs a towel and tries to clean what he can of Dan's arms. 

Hold on, I still want you. Come back, I still need you. Let me take your hand, I'll make it right. I swear to love you all my life. Hold on, I still need you 

Phil wraps the towel against one wrist and holds it down. He does it to the other wrist. "I'm so sorry. I love you so much, Dan."

A long endless highway, you're silent beside me. Drivin' a nightmare I can't escape from. Helplessly praying, the light isn't fadin'. Hiding in the shock and the chill in my bones. 

Phil tries to stop shaking. He leans down and tries to get Dan to speak. "Dan? Hey Danny, can you talk to me, please?"

Dan slowly shakes his head. Phil looks at him. His eyelids are starting to close. 

"Dan? Dan no. Keep your eyes open. Please"

The Emergency Medical Technicians come inside. 

They took you away on a table

The medical guy's strap Dan to a gurney and push him into the ambulance. They tell Phil to follow behind them. Phil sighs and gets a cab to the hospital.

Eventually, they let Phil into Dan's room. He's in ICU. Phil walks into the room. At the moment Dan is comatose. They say he may wake up soon or not at all. He lost a lot of blood. Dan also had taken a drug called Phenazepam. Dan was so supposed to take it for his anxiety but he had taken to much. 

I pace back and forth as you lay still. I pull you in to feel your heartbeat. Can you hear me screaming, "please don't leave me"

Phil pulls a chair next to Dan's bed and lays his head on Dan's chest. He tries to listen for a heartbeat. It's faint. Almost not there. Tears slip out of Phil's eyes. "Please don't die. I need you"

Hold on, I still want you. Come back, I still need you. Let me take your hand, I'll make it right. I swear to love you all my life. Hold on, I still need you

Phil picks up one of Dan's arm and looks at his bandaged wrist. A nurse comes in and checks Dan. She gives Phil a sad look and pats his arm before leaving. 

I don't wanna let go. I know I'm not that strong

A couple hours later Phil is still holding Dan's hand. A doctor comes in. "We are going to try to do a blood transfusion. We'll bring him back when he's done."

Phils and reluctantly lets go of Dan's hand. 

I just wanna hear you. Saying baby, let's go home. Let's go home. Yeah, I just wanna take you home

Phil paces the room. It's been two hours. Phil is worried something went wrong. The doctor wheels Dan back into the room. "He did well. Hopefully, he'll wake up soon." He gives Phil a hopeful look. "I'm praying for you" Phil smiles as the doctor leaves.

Hold on, I still want you. Come back, I still need you

Phil walks to Dan and places his hand on Dan's chest. "Please come back Danny" 

Phil sighs and paces the room. He goes to leave to get some water. Before he opens the door, he here something.

"Phil?"

Phil turns around quickly and sees Dan sitting up on his bed. Phil smiles

"Dan"
