I pushed the pram up to the door and knocked, I was on habour lane about afew blocks away from where I lived. A day after the first meeting, I had mustered up the courage to ring him, I had and here I was. This road, was one I had walked along many a time. Little did I know, the Father of my child lived on it. The house itself looked very pleasant, a neat and tidy garden with small rows of little pink peonies lining the paths and driveway. I looked up at the door as I heard a key turn in the lock.
The door opened and there he was, to be honest I hadn't known whether or not to be nervous or expect him to be nervous. By the looks of things he wasn't. He had on a cream shirt with some little blue jeans and toms. His eyes lit up when he saw Scarlett.
"Hey there, how are you today little lady?" He asked crouching down so he was level with her.
"Good." She replied shortly, before sticking her thumb in her mouth to suck. That told me she was shy. It's her way of telling me to take over.
"Hi Jack." I said managing to smile at him.
"Hey." He replied, he stood up again. "Wanna come in we can have some lunch, then maybe go to the park?" He asked me.
"Sure." He stepped back in order for me to wheel the pram into the hallway. I knelt down to unbucckle Scarlettand take off her mini converse. She toddled out and off into an adjoining room while I took off my own coat and shoes. I heard her squeal.
I quickly ran into the room to find her holding a doll in it's packaging.
"Scarlett ae you ok?" I asked her coming down to her level and picking her up.
"Mommy I got Anna!" She squealed again and hugged the package to he chest and kissed it. I set her down and looked.
"Jack, you didn't need to she has so many toys already with my Mom spoiling her and all." He shrugged his shoulders. "No, I wanted to I haven't given her anything. I heard Frozen was a big thing so I picked this up yesterday on my way back from your house two days ago to give to her today!" He looked real proud. I was soon interupted.
"Mommy, open it!" Scarlett thrust the doll in the air, I caught it.
"Pass it here." Jack said, I passed the doll to him and he walked into the kitchen and no more than a minute came back with the Anna doll. Scarlett jumped up and down on the spot and reached out towards the doll. Jack placed it in her arms. She hugged it tight and walked to the sofa and sat down. She held the doll at arms length, "Anna you can be Baby and me Mommy and I can change nappies and sing you Frozen and play dinnertime and have hugs." She smiled widely and pullede the doll into yet another hug.
