FORKS WAS A place that anyone with any money wouldn't know of it

FORKS WAS A place that anyone with any money wouldn't know of it. The town was only of a few thousand people at most. Nic herself hadn't heard of it until her parents told her they were moving up here. Even then, she thought Forks was a place of money or at least a type of city. Looking out at the mass of trees and run-down houses, Nicole didn't know what she was getting herself into.

Her parents were driving them to their new house that was just outside of Forks. Apparently, her parents bought part of a company that deals with the construction of large, modern gated communities of houses, and her parents wanted to build the newest community outside of Forks. They got the first house that was built on the land of the community. Her parents had told her the houses were going to be like mansions. Nic just nodded her head but didn't respond. She was fatigued from the move from Austin, but also from her parents not letting her know the reason they moved to Forks. Nic didn't know her parents expanded their company and bought into another one, one dealing with gated communities. They never let her in on anything, but the pang of hurt still lingered.

"Nicole, look, it's our new home." Her mom gushed as she looked out her window to see their new house.

Nic picked her head up against the window and took the earbuds out of her ears. Her and Sugar looked outside the car window together towards the three-story cream house. To say it was massive was an understatement. The house was the size of the White House and looked like it too. Her family did not need a house that big. Her parents loved to flaunt their money in any way they could, and having a massive house in a gated community was just another way of doing that.

They drove up to the main gate to enter into the community and her father typed in the six-number code that would let them in. After the last number was punched in, the gate buzzed and it opened with a whirling sound. Soon they were in and driving towards their oversized house. It wasn't long until they were at their house, it was the first that was built. On either side of the house after the fence surrounding their property ended was the construction of other mansions. You could barely see them through the fencing and shrubbery. Nic was glad she wouldn't be able to see or hear her neighbors. She couldn't hold up small talk with people like her parents could.

Once her father put the car into park, Nic quickly got out with her small bag and Sugar. She didn't want to be in that car a second longer with her parents. Confined into a small place with them was dangerous for everyone involved. A sigh escaped her mouth, happy no one started an argument during the long car ride from the airport.

"Nicole, wait for us. I want to take a group photo in front of our new home." Her mother called after Nic as she was already up to the steps and moving towards the front door.
