Dylan's POV-

I laid in my bed with the pillow over my head trying to drown out their horrible voices. Yelling, screaming, crying, and cussing... that was all that they seemed to be doing anymore. They were falling apart, my whole family was falling apart. It was sad, as if my mind wasn't already super fucked up, they just had to add this.

"Dyl..." I heard a small voice and a tap on my door.

"hey bud, what are you doing up?" I asked my little brother, Scott.

"mommy and daddy... what- what are they doing?" he asked me tearfully as he walked into my room slowly. "they do that every night now."

"hey Bud, it's okay. We're gonna be okay, Scotty." I said trying to reassure him. I had no Idea what the future held for us, if we were being honest.

There was a loud crash that came from my parent's bedroom followed by more yelling. "hey, why don't we go back to your bedroom? I'll sleep with you in there, okay?" I asked him trying to get him further away from the yelling. My bedroom was only a couple of doors from theirs. "it'll be just like a sleep over, Bud."

"really?" Scott asked me with a tiny bit of happiness in his eyes. I nodded in confirmation. "yessss!" he exclaimed and ran out of my room and to back his. I tried to crack a smile after him but it was hard to do when I knew that my family was on the verge of destruction and I couldn't do anything to fix it.

--------

I walked into school with tired eyes and a headache. My whole body was sore from trying to cram myself into Scott's small bed with him. after I put on some music Scotty seemed to fall right to sleep. I, on the other hand, could hear the angry voices past the music. They didn't quiet down until after three in the morning.

"hey, babe!" Lindsay, my girlfriend, chirped at me while snaking her arms around my waist.

"hey, honey." I said while putting on a smile to face her with. "how was your morning?" I asked as I took a swig of her water bottle to take my Adderall.

"okay... it would have been better if you could have picked me up, but Kirsty did so it was fine." She answered obviously still annoyed at me.

"sorry babe, I had to drop Scotty off at school this morning. Mom isn't feeling too well." I said and put my arm around her trying to be apologetic.

In all truthfulness, my mother didn't even come out of her bedroom this morning. I checked on her to make sure she was still alive, and she was asleep in bed with the aftermath of my parents fight all around her. Their room was a wreck and my dad was nowhere to be found. I had no idea where he went, I didn't think my mother knew either.

"I know, I'm sorry. You know I just don't like deviations to my plans. Its not like you could have helped it or anything." My brunette headed girlfriend said to me with a kiss to my cheek. She was perfect, everything I could ask for in a girlfriend. So why did I feel so hollow?

I walked with her a little further until we came to a stop outside her first period class. "I'll see you at lunch, okay?" I asked with a big smile as I looked at her pretty face.

"see you at lunch, Dylan." She replied and I kissed her temple just how she liked. I watched her walk into her class and retreated back to mine while keeping the stupid big, fake smile on my face.

I walked into the classroom slowly. English IV, not my favorite class but I didn't mind it too much. English was easy, hell, school is easy. It was life that was hard.

I got all of my supplies out and waited patiently for the bell to ring signaling for class to begin. After a few minutes the bell rang and Mrs. Green stood up at the front of the class to begin teaching. The class was very quiet and was going smoothly. That was until she was about 20 minutes into her lecture and the door to the classroom opened. It wasn't swung opened or pushed particularly hard, just a normal door being pushed opened by a normal person. But who walked through it wasn't a normal person, not normal at all.
