A New Beginning Part 17

On the way back to the hotel, I noticed Dean gripping the steering wheel to keep his hands from shaking.

" You want to tell me what the hell happened back there? "

He glanced at me then focused back on the road.

" What are you talking about? "

" Cut the shit Dean. We said we were going to leave those vamps alive. When I was screaming at you, it's like you didn't even hear me. "

" What do you want me to say, I got a little bit carried away. "

" Pull over Dean. "

" What? "

" Pull the damn car over. "

He hesitated then pulled onto the dirt.

" What? " He asked.

" Are you okay? " I asked, looking into his eyes, that were a deep green.

" Bex, I'm fine. "

We looked at each other for a minute then he spoke.

" Really, I'm okay. "

" I worry about you Dean. I don't know what happened to you over the past two years, but it seems like it's finally starting to creep up on you. "

He put his hand on my cheek.

" You don't need to worry about me okay. "

I didn't believe one word he was saying, but he wasn't going to tell me anything, so I gave up.

" Okay. " I said softly.

He kissed my forehead, pulled back onto the road and got us back to the hotel.

Sam and Jade had a few drinks at a bar and talked.

" So did you have any trouble with the wolves? " She asked.

" Nah, the hardest part was tracking them all down. "

" They can be little bastards to find. " She laughed.

Sam ran his fingers through his hair and sat back in his chair, and Jade knew something was up. She set her bottle down and looked at him.

" Alright, what's up? "

" What do you mean? "

" Something's up, talk to me. "

Jade ordered some shots and continued.

" I don't know you that well, but I can tell when something is eating someone up. "

Sam looked into those light green eyes and hesitated.

" Something is up with Dean. "

Jade passed him a shot, cheered then they both downed them.

" Have any idea what it is? "

" That's the thing. How much do you know about us? " Sam asked with a little laugh.

" Well let's just say I did get my hands on all of those Supernatural books. " She confessed with a laugh.

Sam shook his head with another laugh.

" So you know about the mark of Cain. "

She thought for a second, then remembered what she had read about that.

" I thought you guys got rid of the mark when you let Amara out. "

" We did, but this is exactly what happened to him right after he got it. "
