THE BIGGEST MISTAKE

Wad Pov.

I was about to step outside the gym after our meeting with the senior when  someone called my name.

"Nong Wad,"  I turn to see who is it. It's was one of the hazer p'Prem.

"Yes?"  I ask him.

"Uhm... There will be a try out for new member for basketball team. Are you interested?" He asked me.

"A basketball tryouts?,"

"Yes, do you want to join. I guess you have a height."

"I'm sorry,..I think I can't" I put my head down looking at my feet. I'm quite good at basketball cause it was the only sport I can play even I also want to play swimming but I  can't because of my condition.

"Why you can't? " P'prem ask me again.

"It just...."

"Okay.... If you can't decide now it's okay. Give me your phone."

I lift my head at his last word."why?". I asked when he stretch his hand to get my phone.

"I'll give you my line. If you made your decision you could just call me." He said as his hand still waiting for me to give my phone.

I take my phone and give it to him. He dialed his number on my phone and give it back to me.

"Thanks,p'" I said.

"For what."

"Uhmm.. about the signature, and I'm sorry I did not approach you about it."  I said and my head keep down again. I really don't know how I'm trembling in front of him..

"It's okay.. just call me okay?"

I nodded and bid my way and walk toward the front door while he came back to his gang.

I came back to our classroom and quietly seat at my chair. Kongpob and the Em came to my table asking ng me what happened since they saw p'Prem have a talk with me at the gym.

"He just want me to join the try out for the basketball team."

"Are you joining?" Kongpob ask me.

"I'm not sure, I'm quite playing it by myself since I was a kid. I didn't get play it with other I don't know if I could do it with team."

"You're saying that you don't have friends?" Em ask. "Ouch!" I saw Kongpob hit his shoulder and look at me but I look at my hand on the table. It is the sad true I never have a friends when I was a kid even until now.

"Why did you hit me" Em ask and and look at me when Kongpob point at me head down."ohh Wad I'm sorry, it's not what I mean." He apologized.

" It's okay,... ... It's true though. I really don't have friends when I was a kid even at my high school life. I live my childhood alone. So I don't really know how to become socialize."

"It's okay if you want to join the basketball team Wad," Kongpob tryin' to comfort me." Well I'm also joining the try out on Thursday, you can join with me."

"But you're joining the campus moon and star Kongpob?" Em said.

"Well I can do both. And I really want to play basketball." He said looking at me and smile, I smile back at him. "Think about it Wad it can be opportunity for you to have more friend be more confident about yourself bro."  He said tapping my shoulder, I nodded at him as he walk back to his chair.

" Mom can we talk?" I came to their room after I finished my work.

"Yes,son what is it ,is there a problem at school ,?"he ask me as he guide me to seat beside her.

"It's not that mom, one of my senior hazer ant me to join the basketball tryouts for this year.

"Well that would be good news right?" Mom holding my hand." You're good at it sure you can do it son. "

"Is it really okay Mom, I never played it with others or team before,what i

"Son, ...your old enough just be yourself and do your best at every decision you gonna make,okay..." Mom is hugging me now, I feel warm at every word she said. " I felt guilty by locking you here at house for your whole teenage life,my son.... Now I want you to find your true self and find the right path for you always remember that we're always be here for you my son..." I embrace my mom, trying to hold my tears, I want to be strong in front of her, I want her to know that I can do what she want me to do.

I came back to my room and lay down at my bed staring at my ceiling, it's feels good knowing that there are someone who supports me and incourage me to be part of them. I turn to my left and saw my phone on the side table I take it and go to saw my contacts.

Mom...
Dad...
Bro...
p'Prem... ... I smiled as I saw it his the first one who added to my contact. I put my phone back to the side table and lay on my back. It's nice to think that I still have a chance to meet a friends.

I take a breath and close my eyes, this is the first time I'm gonna sleep with a smile on my  face.
