THE BIGGEST MISTAKE

I meet with Kongpob at the basketball court today we, I tell him that I decided to join the try out. p'Prem was send me an email last night asking my decision but I did not reply on him. He might know it soon since he and p'Knott was the one attending the try out. I guess I just want to surprise him.

"Come on Wad" Kongpob pulling my wrist to the registration table. He think that I might change my decision to join so he put my name first before his. Inside the court there was the hazers watching the freshmen that joing the try out.

"Hey Wad, you came you did not reply to my email last night. "   P'Prem walking close to us while holding a ball on his right hand.

"Well,.... I slept early last night so I did not get to reply on you I just read it this morning". I said crossing my fingers inside my pocket sign that I was lying. Oh God why my heart pounding like hell.

"It's okay... Oh Kongpob you're joining too. It's nice there's many freshmen now that want to join the try out. Oh I also heard your nominated as our Faculty moon this year make us win okay," p'Prem looking at Kongpob and leading at to the others to start the try out.

Out of many try outs only 5 was got qualified to get in. P'Prem and p'Knott announced the 5 who will joining this year's team.

"Tew... Mark.... Pete... Kongpob....and Wad..."

Kongpob put his arm around my shoulder and tap it." I told you,you can make it. Now I see you have talent at basketball, not even by your height but you did not tell me that your tree pointer ah..." I put my head low by the sudden complement that I heard by Kongpob.

"You did a great job"  I rise my head to see who was talking,it's p'Prem.

"Thank you p'"

"No need to thank me, it's you who made a move to be qualified. Do you have a class after this?"

"Oh yes ... We have calculus after an hour, we will excuse now p'Prem" Kongpob said.

Kongpob pull me again to the shower room to clean ourselves before coming back to the classroom. Oh hell, I forgot there's no heater at school shower, what should I do. I touch the water before I come inside. It's cold. I think I just make it quick just to wash the smell of sweat after the game.

"Hey Wad, are you alright?"  I heard Kongpob voice beside me.

"Ye..yeah what Happened?"

"I really don't know, I just heard you after you walk out at the shower room and pass out all of a sudden,what happened to you?"

"Where are we?" I did not answer his last question.

"We're at the school clinic, p'Prem heard me when you pass out, you body was so cold so he carry you here."

"What...." My eyes widen.how did he carry me  I put my hands at my face I fell embarrassed.

"He was worried, he even excused us to our sched he ask me to watch over you."

I suddenly remember my mom, I hope they did not call him." By any chance,... Did they call my mom?" I made a worry face in front of Kongpob.

"I was about, we're worried because the doctor said your heart beat become slower...... but.....  P'Prem said that you should need to take a rest first if you get worse then we can call your mom." I take a deep sigh.

"Thanks.... I don't want him to get worried, I'm scared that she will forbid me coming out again if she know about this."

"Why?" He asked with a confusedly look."Was if you need someone you can talk to, I'm ready to listen". Kongpob tap my shoulder.

I don't know if I'm ready to tell to someone about me. But I fell at ease with Kongpob,so I started to tell him.

"Well... I'm gonna say that this is my first time to attend a normal school after what happened to me I my primary. I don't want my parent feel to be burden because of me.and I also want to feel that I was a normal person despite having this condition." Kongpob was seriously listening to me and did not talk until I finish my story.

"Oh... Now I know, I would be so hard for you, not having and meeting a friend since your childhood,"

"Well, I'm glad because I meet you, your my first friend after all"I said with a smile showing on our face.

"I'm also glad to be your first friend,not just a friend will best friend"he said widely smiling at me.

After I gain a little bit strength, I told Kongpob that we can go back to our classroom. While walking at the corridor we walk by p'Prem walking toward the clinic.

"Oh ate you feeling okay?" He ask me.

"I'm fine now p', thanks for carrying me at the clinic" I said bowing down my face. I feel it's burning now in front of p'Prem.

"No problem, oh by the way have this," he pull out a plastic bag with a food." Guess your hurry by now have it before you go back to your classroom. I go now, bye"

"Bye p'"Kongpob said.

"Thanks p' bye" I said before he could totally turn back. He just smiled at me and nodded.

I decided to walk to the back of school where I usually seat at the corner bench. I put out the food that p'Prem give me, Kongpob said that he will going back to the classroom first, just said that I can come if I finish my food. I just thank him for watching me at the clinic and tell him to keep our conversation as a secret.

I guess it's not bad having someone I can tell my burden to. And it's so good to feel that someone is caring about you, I'm grateful to have Kongpob and p'Prem around me. It's was a warm feeling that beside my parents and brother there was someone I can put my trust.
