Heartstorm gazed at the cats wandering about the camp. He sighed slowly. He couldn't wait to get back to going on patrols. He spotted on the other side of the clearing Stripedfur and her kits. They scuttled towards the stream, screaming excitedly. Acornheart trotted to them, a smile on her face. She exchanged a few words with Stripedfur then led the kits away. Stripedfur spotted Heartstorm and smiled. She padded over.

"How long are you not allowed to go out?" she asked kindly.

"A day and a half," explained Heartstorm with a small sigh.

"Well, at least you're not stuck in camp like me," she said. Heartstorm grimaced at the thought.

"Why don't you go out?" asked Heartstorm. "While they're with Acornheart?"

"I was just about to," she said. "But you need company."

"It's alright. You've been stuck in camp for like five moons," said Heartstorm.

"Yes, and I think I'll be able to wait a few more minutes," she said. Heartstorm was glad for the company. They talked about the weather then changed to the kits and finally, Stripedfur asked about what had happened a day ago.

                     "You did well," remarked Stripedfur.

"Yeah well I had Blacktail, Rainfeather and Sparkbelly," said Heartstorm, licking his stomach in embarrassment and pride.

"But you were leading the patrol," pointed out Stripedfur. "Anyways, I heard you wanted to be Hawkkit's mentor. I think you'd do well."

"Wolfstep is going to mentor Hawkkit," said Heartstorm, feeling happy that Stripedfur wanted him to mentor Hawkkit.

"I heard," nodded Stripedfur. "You both would be great mentors. It'll be up to Thornstar of course but since you know Hawkkit well I think you'd be a great mentor to him.

"Thanks," said Heartstorm. Stripedfur said goodbye to Heartstorm and headed for the camp entrance. Heartstorm rested his head on his paws and closed his eyes for a nap. They day seemed like it would never end. There wasn't much to do in camp when he just wanted to get out and go check the WindClan border. What if they decided to cross it again. Heartstorm almost growled at the thought. He ached to go check our just go out for a fresh walk. He wondered if he could ask Frogleap if he could. Heartstorm pricked his ears as he heard some loud chattering. Sparkbelly brushed into camp followed by Cloudbreeze and Greyspeck. He was talking loudly and excitedly.

"Then I swiped his eye and blood sprayed out of his eyes," Sparkbelly was saying. "Then she fled like a coward! She was crying and begging for me to have mercy, as if! Then I turned around and I saw Heartstorm! He was fighting this nasty big WindClan warrior. Heartstorm was thrown down and I rushed to his aid. I pushed off the cat and I fought of the cat, Heartstorm was so badly hurt if I hadn't intervened.., he would not have made it." Greyspeck was watching him slight amusement and disinterest but Cloudbreeze was goggling with a slightly open mouth. Heartstorm rolled his eyes. Sparkbelly spotted him and grinned. He trotted over to Heartstorm.

"Hey, how is your wound doing?" he asked brightly.

"Better," grunted Heartstorm. "So you saved my from a nasty WindClan warrior, did you?"
