Tia's POV
I dragged my bags into the small shore house.
"Tia, meet my daughter, Morgan," Lucia smiles.
Morgan had blonde hair like her mother and forestry green eyes. She had a tanginess to her which I appreciate.
"Hi, I'm Tia," I say to her.
"I'm Morgan," she smiles, "you're from Colorado right?"
"Yes, I guess they've said somethings about that," I smile.
"Yeah, I really want to see snow one day," she smiles.
"Oh yeah, we get plenty of snow," I laugh as our parents went in the other room, "are you senior or graduated?"
"I'm going to be a senior, I know you graduated," she says, "Michael told me you're going to CU Boulder."
"Yeah, I love the culture up there, so I suffered from three years of French," I laugh.
She looked at her phone and smiled.
"Hey, do you want to go to a party tonight?" She asks, "it could be a way for you to meet new people."
"I mean, I have an eternity here," I laugh, "I'll go."
"Cool, I'll text Jake, he's the one hosting," she smiles.
"Is he your boyfriend or something?" I ask.
"No, he's a close friend from school. I'm dating a boy named Tyler. He surfs and plays football at our school," she says.
"I used to have a boyfriend back home, male's are complicated," I groan.
She laughs at my comment.
"Girls, it's so nice to see you two bond," Lucia smiles.
"How long have you two been going out?" I ask.
"Last summer when you left, we met at the beach," Lucia says.
I nod as the clock strikes 9 PM.
"Mom, Michael, we're going to Jake's party," Morgan says.
"Honey be safe!" She says.
"Lucia dear, they're almost adults, they'll be fine," dad smiles at her.
It was nice to see my father happy again after a painful divorce.
"Bye dad!" I say.
Preston's POV
"Preston, you gonna hook up one of these?" Tyler asks me.
"Probably, I mean, I always do don't I?" I laugh as my tattoo glistened in the moonlight.
"Hey, is she new around here? I've never seen her before," Tyler says.
"What? Who?" I ask looking.
"That brown haired girl. She just walked in with Tyler's girl," he says.
"Maybe," I say.
Tia's POV
I sat on the couch with a Diet Coke.
God, I didn't know anyone. Jake and Morgan went somewhere in the crowd as I sat about.
"Mind if I sit?" A boy with brownish blonde hair asks.
"Not at all," I say.
"What do you think?" He says.
"This is nothing like the parties I've been to," I say leaning against the couch, "besides, I don't really have any friends here."
"What's your name?" He asks.
"Celestia but you can call me Tia," I say.
"I'm Preston, nice to meet you," he smiles, "I'll be your friend."
"Thanks Preston," I smile.
"You're friends with Morgan?" He asks.
"New step sister," I say.
"I've never really seen you around before," he says, "you just move here?"
"No, my parents got divorced when I was a sophomore, so I'm visiting my dad for the summer," I say, "I shouldn't be throwing my sob story on you sorry."
"It's fine," he says.
I could already tell where this is going, so I let it happen. It's not the first time that I've hooked up with someone. It was at my friend Marina's grad party. Me and a boy named Carson did it. I'm not one to get attached since the divorce, so it wasn't a big deal. It's usually the boy who got attached to me. Chased after me in a heartbeat.
"Let's get out," I say grabbing his hand.
Like my mother said, have an adventure.
