"It was only a fling, how did it end up like this?"
Celestia Anderson or "Tia" was visiting her father in Hawaii for the summer after a painful divorce. Tia, originally from the cold of Denver, Colorado, had seen this opportunity to meet new people...
Preston grabbed me by the hand and as soon as I knew it, we were out the door. He went into the garage to find some sparklers and a Polaroid camera.
"Here," He says giving me the sparkler.
It lit up as we ran down the street together.
Summer nights were better every single time. I've become so much more loose and carefree. Last summer I was shut inside bored. Now I'm starting to like summer.
"Come here, oh! There's one in your hair!" Preston laughs.
"What? No! Don't touch it!" I giggle.
"Yes there is!" He laughs chasing me taking pictures.
He laughs at me before I fall onto the grass.
"Another soldier has fallen," Preston says putting his foot on my chest.
"No!! Preston! I can't breath I'm laughing too hard!" I giggle as looks at me.
"Not hard enough!" He says pulling me up and running with me through the streets, "you wanted adventure right?"
I laugh as we ran through the streets. He was an amazing friend taking me to new heights I couldn't go before.
Preston's POV
Tia laughed more and more as I took her throughout town. We put out our sparklers and ran together.
Her brown hair flew back in the wind.
She was an amazing friend to be around. Perhaps maybe even...
"It's pretty late, I better get going home. My dad texted me saying he has big news," Tia says.
"I'll drive you then," I say taking her back.
She let go of my hand walking back to the house. Something so adventurous and cool as her made me drawn to her. As a friend of course.
I opened the garage as she grabbed the helmet placing it on her head. I firmly put my helmet on as I drove her home. We yelled and screamed the whole way there. I parked on the side of the house and walked her up.
"Hey kiddo! There you are! Been looking for you," her father says.
"Daddy!" She runs up hugging him.
Her father wore a tropical blue shirt and sweats. He smiled and waved to me.
"Who's this?" He asks Tia.
"Oh, dad this is one of my new island friends, this is Preston, Preston, this is my father, Mr. Anderson," Tia smiles.
I walked up from my cycle to say hello.
"Hi, I'm Preston Hernandez," I smile shaking his hand.
"I'm Michael, you can call me that," he laughs.
He had a warm fatherly tone to him.
"Well, I'll let you two say goodnight then come inside Tia," Michael says walking in.
"Goodnight Preston, lets go on more adventures next time," Tia smiles.
"Goodnight Tia, I had fun," I smile as she went into the house.
Tia. What happened to you in Colorado?
Tia's POV
"Hey dad what's up?" I say as he turns around.

"You mean..." I gasp at the sparkle.
"Yes Tia, I'm going to ask," he says, "I'm the best way. Check it out. Lucia! Our little Tia's home!"
"It's about time," Lucia says as I see her with her hair curlers, "you made me worried sick. Did your mother teach you to come home at ridiculous hours!?"
Morgan was giggling on the stairs to herself.
How dare you. I only put up with this because my dad is happy.
"Lucia, I'm sorry, but there's something Dad needs to know," I point to him.
She turned around gasping.
"Michael..." she says.
"Lucia, you've made me stronger and happier, will you marry me?" He asks.
She sheds tears nodding her head. She put her hand out as he slid the ring on.
