Ruby
I walked up the stairs of my two story house, making my way to my room as I sighed softly. It's been weeks since I've been home and I missed this place. The oak wood floor felt cold, yet oddly nice against my bare feet. I glanced at the walls, which were pretty much empty except for an old family photo of me, Yang and Dad.
"Heh, it feels like that was just yesterday. Though it was many years ago." I said to myself and continued to walk towards my room.
I opened the door to my room once I reached it and walked inside, setting my scythe down next to the door and walked over to my nightstand, taking my scroll out of my pocket and setting it down. I sometimes find it hard to believe I've been a hired body guard for many years yet people still think I'm a guy when they hire me. Then again, the name Red Reaper isn't a name you would normally associate with a girl. It also probably doesn't help that I tend to wear a mask when I'm on duty.
"It's been about two years huh? It feels like it's been longer than that." I said softly and chuckled a bit. "I wonder how Yang is doing?"
I was about to flop down on my bed but then heard an obnoxiously loud knock on the door. I groaned loudly as I had a pretty good idea of who it was. I made my way back down the stairs and opened the front door and was instantly engulfed by one of my sisters signature bear hugs.
"RUBY! How have you been little sis?!" Yang asked excitedly as she hugged me.
I gasped a bit for air and struggled a bit in her grasp. "Y-Yang, I can't breath!"
She gasped lightly and loosened her grip and I hugged her back "Sorry sis, sometimes I forget my own strength."
"By that you mean every time you come to visit and bear hug me?" I asked and looked up at her.
"Maaaayybe." Yang replied and giggled softly. "So how have you been sis?"
I pulled away from her hug and motioned her inside. "I've been just fine Yang, come on in and we'll talk."
Yang nodded and walked inside. After she was in I shut the door behind us and locked it. I looked behind me and saw Yang in the kitchen, she seemed to be looking through the fridge which made me sigh as I walked over to her.
"If you're looking for some kind of alcoholic drink, you might as well stop Yang. I don't have any." I said and she turned to face me and pouted.
"Seriously Rubes? What do you have against alcohol." Yang asked and frowned
I sighed softly and rubbed the bridge of my nose. "Yang, I maybe 20 years old but I'm never going to drink, you know that."
Yang sighed and ruffler my hair playfully which made me glare at her. "I know Rubes, but you could at least get some for me when I come to visit."
I swatted her hand off my hair playfully and started fixing my hair. "I know that Yang, but I'm too busy to head to the store to get beer."
"You're busy? Busy with what? You don't have a job." Yang said and tilted her head slightly.
I mentally hit my self in the head and groaned quietly. I just remembered that I never told Yang or Dad that I'm a bodyguard for hire. It pays really well, especially since I've had so many successful jobs over the past two years.
