Chapter 24: First Round On Me

The girl overlooked the orange trees of Fall from her position on the high cliffs. She looked at the orange sky of the sunset as she looked at the gray tombstone, a flaming rose was etched into it, under that was 'Summer Rose. Thus kindly I scatter.'

The girl removed her red hood as she looked at the grave, "Hey mom." Ruby said. "Sorry I haven't come by in a while. Things have been...Well, things have been pretty busy. Oh! Dad's here too, he's...y'know. Dad. He's still teaching at Signal, but he told me he's going out on a mission soon. I think he misses adventuring with you. I miss you too."

Ruby chuckled, "I haven't gotten kicked out of Beacon yet! So that's cool. I think being on a team with Yang helps. I keep her in line...That was a joke. She's actually a really great fighter, you can tell she's learned a lot from dad. Well, so are Weiss, Blake, David, and Rayne. Oh! They're my teammates. Together we form team RRWBBY! And yes, before you ask, that does cause a lot of confusion...We form the world's first Beacon six man team! We're kinda famous around school, like you were...Anyways, I made a lot of new friends, and met some...let's say, odd, teachers. We stopped some bad guys too! I guess it's like they say: Like mother, like daughter."

"I still wonder why Ozpin let me into the school early. But uh, I guess he'll tell me one day. You know how he is. It's funny, the more I get to know him, the more he starts sounding like uncle Qrow." She paused before she heard a dog bark, she turned around and saw Zwei next to a blonde man wearing a tan shirt with a brown vest, cargo shorts, and some armor around his shoulders. "Oh! Looks like dad's back. I gotta go! He's dropping Yang and I off at the tournament match before he goes on his next mission! Wish me luck!" She said before pulling her hood up and turning away, before she left she looked back over her shoulder. "It was good to talk."

The Amity Colosseum was a giant place, the enormous structure was built by the four kingdoms to accommodate the tournament of the Vytal Festival. It sat on a giant crystal of Gravity Dust, allowing it to float above the land near the clouds. It held a giant fighting stage in the center of the open arena, with seats and scoreboards above and around it. The stage could shift to hold many different biomes, to change up and excite the contestants. Currently, the biomes were an icy frozen side, and a volcanic side.

"Ah, it seems we have another astonishing bout ahead of us. Wouldn't you agree Professor?" One of the announcers in the announcers block stated.

"Doctor. And yes, Peter, I think it's safe to say: This match is one of the closest we've seen in the four on four round of the tournament!"

Professor Port chuckled, "Yes. And for those of you just now joining us, welcome to the Vytal Festival Tournament!" His voice echoed around the colosseum. "If this is your first time watching, allow us to break down the rules."

Oobleck then looked towards the camera in front of them in their booth as the holographic screen behind him began to change. "The tournament is divided into three distinctive rounds. Teams, doubles, and singles. Age and school year are irrelevant. In this tournament, the only attribute being tested... is skill."

"Correct!" Port joined. "The winners of this battle will elect two of their members to represent them in the doubles round. Followed by the winners of that round choosing one member to advance once again! The final combatants will then fight their way through the remaining bracket in hope of achieving victory for their kingdom!"

"And yes, Peter, these certainly are some spectacticular spectacles on which to spectate on. And I don't think anyone tuning in around the world is going to disagree with me on that."

"And why would they? Now, let's get back to the match between team RRWBBY of Vale, and and team ABRN (Auburn) of Haven. If you didn't know, team RRWBBY is the first six man team of Beacon, and because of that, they have been forced to leave two members of their team behind. But no fret, even without the two members, these girls are nothing to play around with."
