As I mentioned in the title, this is only a theory. My initial theory was a lot less incomplete until I came across several other articles online. Here are some articles that helped me complete my theory.

I'll be sure to mention the info I got from these two articles.

So, here we go.

💮

One of the most infamous mysteries in i7 concerns the disappearance of Zero's composer Haruki Sakura, who happens to be one of Nagi's dear friends. Many theories have popped up, but here's mine. The most initial one, that is.

So I read from YotsuTama's article that Haruki Sakura may have been held hostage.

How did they reach this conclusion?

It has something to do with the song "Sakura Message". Sakura Message's lyrics has a hidden message in them.

First of all, the title itself. "Sakura" Message. Not just sakura as in cherry blossoms, but Haruki Sakura's name; sakura.

Secondly, Nagi keeps talking about Sakura Message and its lyrics in the story. Don't you find that there's got to be something significant in there?

Thirdly, if you do look at the lyrics yourself, you'll see this:

たった2文字だけでいいかも

Two letters– Perhaps that's all I needed.

一週間後にまたその先の音書き足して

One week later, I wrote in the notes– A sound from far from now...

Basically the lyrics include two letters and one week, which implies the number seven. Therefore something can be dug up from these two lines.

→ Take notes, 2 letters from the 7th hiragana letter

Hiragana, as in the basic Japanese alphabet. Break all the kanji and katakana into hiragana, and read them according to the hint given above.

sotto hokorobu sakura tachi

deaeta no nara hanarete mo kienai mono wo shitta yo

sukoshi zutsu furu kisu wa hanabira ni niteta honest love

itsudemo kimi wo hisoyaka ni omotteru

sono kokoro ga tojitemo kawarazu ni

saite soshite chi ni kaeru usubeni no

ichizusa utsushita you ni

kizuita koko kara mieru sekai wa

kikazarazu ni iu nara takaramono

sakura negau koto ima hitotsu kanau nara

omoide wo kakikesu gurai no asu ni nare

And what do we get?

sakura haruki wo hitojichi ni shita kara iu koto kike

桜春樹を人質にしたから言うこと聞け, which translates to "I have Sakura Haruki as my hostage so do as I say."
