Happiness

Have you ever realised
How the greatest poets
Lead the saddest lives.
The poems about the trees
And the poems about the wind
All seem to fail to meet the cut.
The poems about heartache
And the poems about loss
Are held higher than those about beauty.
Give me strings of meaningless words,
Of love and happiness.
Fill the page with admiration
And you are not creative.
But spill your sorrow
And recieve an onslaught of congratulations.
If you are told a persons deepest secret you are close,
But when they speak of their happiest memory it is casual conversation.
Sadness is not better than excitement,
Death does not trump birth.
Describe the colour purple,
Speak about how it is deep and bright,
Explain why it brings you joy,
For excitement breeds happiness.
