Words I Wish I Could Say To Her

We hid amongst the grass that you and I once lay upon.
We retreated from prying eyes to commit the sins only us and the stars knew of.
But darling, I wonder,
Will the stars spill our secret to you?
Will they whisper soft words of my crime?
For dear, I care about you,
But I could not stop myself.
Night after night him and I crept up to our spot,
We lay atop the hill and appreciated the clouds.
It reminded me of you and I,
Of that night we stopped to stare at the moon.
But this is different,
My dear, I have been unfaithful.
I cannot express my love for you,
And tell you the honest truth.
You would not believe that I did it out of love,
Nor out of impulse.
It has gone too far to stop,
And all I wish is for you to be happy.
I am sorry I can no longer give you the feeling of euphoria,
But perhaps you will find someone else who can.
They will sweep you up in their arms, and carry you into a new land riddled with excitement and contentment.
And I will be far, far from that place.
