As the four of us sat together with me next to Hermione waiting for Professor Snape to arrive, I heard the cauldrons and people talking.

"This should be fun." Hermione said to me.

"Yeah, watch and learn. Snape hated James Potter." I whispered and Hermione, Neville and Draco looked to me with confusion. But I wasn't saying on why, I knew why but I didn't want to tell Snape's personal past. I'm just glad Snape hates James Potter.

The door suddenly banged open making everyone jump and we heard Snape enter the classroom with a sweep.

"There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class. As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion making. However, for those select few who possess the predisposition..." Severus looked to Draco who smiled. "I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death. Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough to not pay attention."

I tried to find where Professor Snape went when Hermione nudged me, as I felt eyes on me as I looked to the front.

"Ms Worthless the sister of our new.... celebrity. Tell me, what would I get if I added powder root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Professor Snape questioned and I looked thoughtful. Should I dumb myself down? I knew if I didn't Petunia and Vernon will beat me again.

"It would make a sleeping potion so powerful it would be known as the Draught of the Living Death." I answered and the first years looked shocked in disbelief while Harry glared heatedly and I felt this.

Severus blinked with surprise that she knew a sixth year question. "Well, let's try again. Where, Ms. Worthless, would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?" Severus questioned. It was third year but he wondered how far her knowledge went.

I look to Harry who was glaring and I paled, knowing the consequences of being smarter than him. I knew I'd be showing him up. I would get a beating of a life time this summer but I didn't want to get done if I knew and Professor Snape finds out.

"I don't know, sir." I said and Severus narrowed his eyes. He knew she lied to him.

"And, what is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane?" Severus asked and I looked conflicted within the eyes. I knew the answer and I wanted to tell him but couldn't. I didn't want to get hurt.

I felt Harry, Ron and Seamus glaring at me and I sighed looking down, I just couldn't risk it. "I don't know, sir." I said to him.

Severus narrowed his eyes seeing Potter, Weasley and Finnigan glaring to her. "I expect you to stay after class, Ms Worthless. Can you answer those two questions Mr Potter?" Severus said looking to Potter. He knew something was definitely wrong here, he knew she knew the answers but didn't say anything but why?

"No, sir." Harry said to him.

"Clearly fame isn't everything, is it, Mr Potter." Severus said and I smiled lightly and Severus smirked, seeing this and got on with the lesson.

All through the lesson when we were brewing cure for boils I asked Hermione which ingredients were which so that I didn't cause damage to the classroom and Severus saw this, and frowned. Why did she need help identifying them when she knew? He looked to her eyes and he saw the slight glaze that was hardly noticeable, he felt his stomach drop...he knew she was blind.

When we finished I tried to not bolt out of the class as Hermione, Neville and Draco left, under Professor Snape's orders and I was looking meekly. I knew I was in trouble, he must have guessed I knew the answers, and I was going to pay dearly.

"I knew you knew those answers, Worth." Severus said and sat down and I sighed. I knew it. "I saw Potter, Weasley and Finnigan glaring. What would have happened if you answered them correctly?" Severus asked wondering if she tell him the truth. He might be the meanest Professor but that didn't mean anything.

"I'd be accused of cheating and he'd tell Vernon and Petunia and I'd get disciplined." I muttered, reluctantly.

"And yet you aren't cheating. You brewed a perfect potion no first years except a close second out of Ms Granger brewed a perfect one. The only thing is Ms Granger had to help you identify each ingredient for you for you to continue your potion." Severus said and I stiffened at that.

"What are you getting at Professor?" I asked him with caution.

Severus took his chance as he waved his hand in front of Worthless's face, but she didn't react. "Because what I'm getting at is that I think your blind. I've been waving my hand here and yet you didn't tell me to stop or even blink." Severus said and the girl stiffened. "Does any of the other staff or students know?" Severus asked, it was dangerous.

"No. My friends do but no staff and I don't want no one else to know." I said to him. I didn't want to be treated differently.

"And why not? They would help you under the circumstances of which you are blind." Severus said to her. Trying to reason with her.

"I don't want to be treated differently!" I snapped. Severus was taken a back by this. "I'm always treated differently and I don't want that! Even my birth mother thought I was different and she didn't care! No one does! Who would care for the blind girl that is in the shadows!" I snapped feeling the tears but held them back.

"I'm going to tell the Headmaster." Severus said and was going to go when someone grabbed his arm and Severus looked to see Worthless looking to him with unshed tears.

"Please, no." I said and my voice cracked. Severus sighed and sat down knowing that look, he could understand slightly. "I'm capable of handling my own. I don't want special treatment. I never got any sort of good treatment from the ones I should be calling family. Please, don't tell." I said, begging and Severus pinched his nose but saw the tears.

"All right." Severus said to that reluctantly. "But, you are to come to me every night so I can help you with your work. If you are slipping in classes I will explain that it's only temporary. You are to come to me if your having problems, is that understood?" Severus said sternly and I nodded and then hugged him, and Severus tensed. No student hugged him before.

"Thank you." I whispered with relief and Severus sighed, and hugged her back, reluctantly but comfortingly.

"Your welcome. Now, show me those experiments." Severus said and I smiled and brought out parchments. I just knew that this was going to be alright, I knew that I could trust Severus, and maybe become a close friend due to he knew of my condition and I knew he wouldn't tell.
