Negan, Lucille and Athena

Chapter 3

Negan's POV:

It's Athena's first birthday today. We're gonna have a little party for her later. Athena has her own room now. It's 7am and I looked into her room, she was snoozing away. I can't believe she's a year old.

I was sat downstairs on the sofa having a coffee, Lucille came down a few minutes after me. "Shall we wake her up?" Lucille asked. "Nah let her have a little sleep in." I smiled.

At 8am we both went up to Athena's room. She woke up as we walked in. Athena lifted her arms up for me to pick her up out of bed. "Happy Birthday Athena baby." Me and Lucille smiled. Athena is too young to know it's her birthday but she still gave us both a big hug.

We went downstairs and had breakfast - I made some pancakes. Athena ended up with chocolate all over her face. After breakfast we got Athena cleaned up.

At the party, it was me, Lucille, Athena, Jadis, Daryl, Carol, Michonne, Rick, Lori, Carl, Glenn, Maggie and Beth. When Jadis came, Athena ran straight to her. We were opening presents and they were mainly toys and clothes. Jadis got her a Seahawks shirt with her name on the back of it. I think I loved it more than Athena.

Athena and Carl were running around, chasing each other. When she got tired of running, she ran to the sofa and squeezed herself between me and Jadis. She climbed onto my knee. "You had fun baby?" I chuckled and planted a kiss on her head and she nodded. "Hey missy, where's my kiss eh?" Jadis sulked playfully. Athena began to giggle and she launched herself at Jadis and gave her a kiss. "Thank you darling." Jadis moved Athena's hair out of her face and she wrapped her arms around her. After about twenty minutes, Athena dozed off. I got her blanket and put it over Athena, to keep her warm.

Jadis gently passed Athena over to me. "I have to pee." She ran to the bathroom. I just chuckled and held Athena close to me as she snoozed away. Daryl grabbed a chair and sat in front of me, he looked surprised to see Athena asleep. "She always has a nap around this time." I said quietly. Daryl laughed and said "isn't it passed your nap time old man?" I laughed myself and flipped him off, which Lucille saw and shouted: "Negan!" Daryl was pissing himself laughing, and Athena slowly woke up. "Daddy!" She said happily as she woke up.

We were all sat in the living room and Daryl said Seahawks were playing today. So all the men stayed in the living room and the women went in the kitchen. "Are you coming with Mommy sweetie?" Lucille came over and tried to pick Athena up. Athena cuddled closer to me and said "me stay daddy!" "I think she wants to stay and watch football Luce." I chuckled. Lucille smiled and rolled her eyes before heading to the kitchen. Before the game started, we all had cake. Cake was smushed all over Athena's face. I chuckled and wiped it off her.

During the game, Carl wanted to stay with Lori in the kitchen. Athena didn't move off my knee at all. Although she didn't really know what was going on, she was cheering with us when Seahawks scored. "She's definitely a daddy's girl." Daryl chuckled. "You bet she is." I winked.

After everyone left, me Lucille and Athena went upstairs to watch a film. We put on The Wizard of Oz. Athena fell asleep cuddled up to us both. We didn't want to wake her so we left her to sleep in the bed with us. After a while me and Lucille fell asleep ourselves. I'm glad my baby girl enjoyed her first birthday.
