Negan, Lucille and Athena

Chapter 16

Flashback: Athena is 4 years old

Negan's POV:

So everyone's coming round to ours tonight. The guys are having a poker night. Me and Lucille went shopping with Athena. We got beers, wine and sodas for the kids. We'll be ordering pizzas when everyone arrives.

It's 6pm. "Come on missy let's get you in your pyjamas." Lucille picked up Athena and carried her upstairs. A few minutes later my girls came back down, Athena in her Care Bears onesie. She climbed onto the sofa and sat on my knee. At about 6:30pm everyone had arrived. Since it's gonna be a late night, Carl came across in his pjs too. "Right, what pizza is everyone wanting?" Lucille asked. Everyone mainly went for pepperoni and Hawaiian.

About 20 minutes later the pizzas arrived and everyone chipped in. "Can I have slice of each please?" Athena asked. "Course you can darling." I winked at her and gave her her pizza. "Pineapple does not go on pizza!" Carl laughed. "Have you even tried it Carl?" Athena asked and Carl shook his head. "Then don't say that if you ain't tried it." I'm proud of my baby girl. She's only 4 but she is a smart ass.

After we all demolished the pizzas and a few drinks the guys started to play poker. "Kick their asses daddy!" Athena said happily. "Language missy!" Lucille warned. I just smirked and discretely winked at my baby girl. Athena ended up coming over and sitting on my knee as we played. "Woah kid, men only at the table." Glenn said to Athena. "Why you sat here then Glenn?" Athena giggled. Glenn's face dropped and everyone pissed themselves laughing. "You just got told by a four year old darlin'" Maggie laughed. Glenn looked at Athena and put his tongue out at her. "I think Athena has a point." Herschel smirked.

After a good hour of poker, I of course won that game. "Hey it's supposed to be beautiful weather this weekend. Why don't we all go camping?" Rick suggested. It was coming up to our annual group camping trip anyway so we all decided to go.

At about 10pm, Lucille tried getting Athena to bed but being a daddy's girl she just cuddled up to me even more. "Luce it's fine. She ain't any bother." I said quietly. Carl was asleep on the sofa but Athena was wide awake. She ended up giggling like crazy. "What's funny kiddo?" Daryl asked amused. "I think Aunty Jadis is dwunk." She giggled, pointing. Jadis was completely pissed out of her head. She was swaying and took a few steps which ended up resulting in her falling flat on her face. "How many has she had?" I asked trying to keep a straight face. "I think she's had some of your whiskey Negan." Lori said. I just rolled my eyes and put Athena down in my seat as well as putting down my cards. "Luce, do me a favour and get some of your pyjamas for Jadis. Athena can stay in our bed tonight and Jadis can crash in Athena's." I went over to Jadis and lifted her up. "Sshhh don't tell mom I'm drunk." She slurred. "Mom ain't here you dipshit." I chuckled as I carried her upstairs. Lucille helped me get her changed into some pyjamas and brought up a bucket and glass of water. As soon as she was on Athena's bed, she passed out.

Back downstairs, everyone was laughing. "What's funny?" I asked curiously. "When Jadis was ten times more rat arsed when you two got married." Daryl smirked. "Ugh don't remind me. Mom was going bat shit crazy because of how pissed she was. To be honest she was pretty funny. But mom being mom, she was being over dramatic." I chuckled.

At about 1am we decided to finish poker - mainly because I won each game and the others are sore losers. So we just sat around and had a good laugh. Beth dozed off about 11:30pm next to Carl. I looked down and saw my little girl snoozing away bless her. Me and Luce decided to leave her because she'd wake up if we tried taking her to bed. We all had a good night, everyone left by 2am. When me and Lucille went upstairs with Athena, we checked on Jadis who was still passed out drunk then headed to bed. I rested Athena on my chest and Lucille cuddled up to us both. I love having cuddles with my girls.

That weekend:

We're all driving up to the campsite in our RVs. We'll be pitching our tents next to the RVs. "You excited Athena?" Lucille asked our little girl. "Yeah momma!" Athena said happily from the passenger seat next to me.

After about another half an hour, we got to the campsite. Since Athena is attached to me and Lucille, Athena will be sharing our tent pod and Jadis will have a pod to herself. "Momma, daddy. Can I go for a lay down? I'm a bit tired." Athena yawned. "Yeah of course you can baby. Go lay in the bedroom in the RV." I told my little girl. "Can I go and keep her company?" Carl asked quite timidly. "Go ahead Carl." Lucille answered getting the tent out.

We all sat outside in the sun after we all set up the tents. "I best go see if Athena and Carl are ok." I said getting up. I went into the RV bedroom and saw Carl have his arms wrapped around Athena protectively and they were both conked out. I got my camera out and took a photo.

I headed back outside and Jadis was already drinking. "Seriously J?" I chuckled but my baby sis just shrugged. "How are they?" Lucille asked. "They're both snoozing away. Carl's got his arms wrapped around Athena protectively." I told em and they all smiled.

After about an hour we heard yelling come from inside the RV. We all ran in and Carl was freaking out. "I don't know what's wrong with her." He sobbed. We glanced over at Athena and she seemed to be having a seizure. "Shit." I said panicked and Rick took Carl outside. Lucille was freaking out like crazy. I gently tapped Athena's cheeks to try and wake her up. After a couple minutes, our little girl's eyes opened. "D-Daddy? W-What happened?" She groaned. But before I could say anything she projectile vomited all over. "I'm sorry." She sobbed. "Hey it's ok darling. Nothing to be sorry for." Lucille smiled through her tears. "Let's get you cleaned up baby girl." I said quietly. Me and Lucille sorted our little girl out before taking her outside to the others.
