Negan, Lucille and Athena

Chapter 4

Negan's POV:

Athena's now three. It's about 2am and I was awoken by my little girl crying her eyes out. "Oh my poor baby, what's wrong darling?" I yawned. "I-I had a bad dream Daddy." She sobbed. "You wanna sleep with mommy and daddy, baby?" I asked. She nodded and I lifted her up onto my knee. Lucille woke up. "Is she ok?" She asked. "Bad dream." I whispered. Lucille sat up and rubbed Athena's back and kissed her head. "Shall we get back to sleep honey?" Lucille asked. Athena rubbed her eyes and nodded. I laid back down and Athena climbed onto my chest and cuddled up. She's quite small for three, which I love because she's still our little girl.  Lucille put her arm over me and on Athena's back as she slept. I kissed Athena on the top of her head as she snoozed away before I fell back asleep myself.

At 8am I woke up, Athena was still snoozing away. I got out of bed and gently put Athena back in bed before getting dressed. Athena woke up just before I left. "Where you going Daddy?" She yawned. I went over to the bed and stroked her face. "Go back to sleep baby, I'm just going for a run." Athena sat up and smiled, "me come daddy?" "You wanna come run with me, darling?" She started nodding excitedly. I chuckled. "Let's get you dressed then." I got some clothes out for Athena and helped her get ready. I woke Lucille up and told her Athena wanted to come on the run with me which she was fine with.

Alexandria is pretty big but I usually just run a couple circuits from our house to the school and back. "You ready darling?" I asked Athena and she nodded. We started to run slowly and we built up the speed after halfway through the first circuit. I'm really impressed with Athena, she's managed to keep up with me. Halfway through the second circuit she was exhausted, bless her. "Do you want daddy to carry you darling?" I asked. "Y-yes please d-daddy." She huffed. I picked her up and held her close as I ran back.

When we got back home, I put her down and she fell. "Shit. Are you ok, baby?" I lifted her back up. "I can't feel my legs daddy." She sobbed. "It's all the exercise you've done baby. Well done by the way, you did great." I sat on the sofa and had her on my knee. "They really hurt daddy." "They will do for a bit baby. It's ok." After a few minutes, Athena fell back asleep. I got up and gently put Athena down as she slept. I went into the kitchen and Lucille was making coffee. "How was the run?" She asked. "Great. Athena managed to do a circuit and half before getting tired and she managed to keep up with me." Lucille smiled. "Definitely your daughter." I chuckled. "She's got a bit of a case of jelly legs and she said they hurt. I'll see how she is when she wakes up." Lucille nodded.

I went into the living room and sat on the sofa. Athena was still asleep. She woke up a couple minutes later. Lucille was sat in the armchair and said "did you have fun running with daddy, darling?" "Yeah momma, can I go on every run? Please please?" "Of course you can baby!" I chuckled.

Lucille did some bacon and eggs for breakfast. I carried Athena over to the table. "Do your legs still hurt Athena?" Lucille asked. "Yeah mommy but I'll be ok." Athena smiled. "I can't wait to run again with you daddy." I chuckled and kissed Athena on her head.

Over the past few weeks me and Athena have been on runs just about every weekend. She's doing really well bless her. She always falls asleep when we get back though. Me and Lucille let her sleep, it really tires her out. I'm glad Athena likes to come on runs with me, I get to spend more time with my baby girl.
