Athena's POV:

I'm 16. Which I guess we got a lot to catch up on: I'm part of the swimming team (surprise surprise), I'm a straight A student, believe it or not my mom has got me into Dancing With the Stars, me and Carl are best friends still and just about everyone in school hates me because I'm the daughter of the coach. Ah well.

So Maggie and Glenn adopted a girl called Enid - we didn't find out until we met her at school. Carl likes her, I can tell. Me and Carl were looking somewhere to sit for lunch. We saw Enid sitting with others from class. "Carl! Over here!" She waved. There was only one seat left at that table. Carl looked at me then back over. "Go ahead." I smiled. "Are you sure?" He asked. I just nodded. He went over there in a heartbeat. I didn't fancy sitting on my own so I went over to dad's office. I knocked on the door. "Come in." Dad was having lunch with a couple other teachers. "Hey dad, sorry to disturb. I was wondering if I could join you guys for lunch?" I asked. "Yeah course you can darling. Where's Carl?" "Oh he's kinda into Enid. She invited him to sit with her and the others, I told him to go sit with them. I didn't fancy sitting on my own." I shrugged. One of the teachers asked, "why didn't you sit with them?" I sighed, "Oh just about everyone hates me because I'm the coach's daughter. But I ain't gonna drag my friend down too. I think I'm the only one that likes gym." I smiled. "Have you got gym next?" Another teacher asked. "Yep." Dad chuckled. "Well I ain't teaching today. This dance teacher is teaching you guys some Latin and ballroom." "Let me guess, you didn't want them taking today's lesson? But the principal told you to?" I smirked. "Good job you're my daughter, otherwise you'd have detention." We all laughed. It actually wasn't that bad having lunch with dad and other teachers.

In gym, Carl and Enid sat together. It kinda hurt a bit that he didn't come say hi to me. But I just shrugged it off. Dad told us that this lesson was gonna be taught by a dance teacher. Everyone looked intrigued. The dance teacher told everyone to partner up, Carl and Enid immediately partnered up as did everyone else. So that left me on my own. "You dance with me. Reckon you'll be able to keep up?" The teacher asked. "I can try." So we started with ballroom. He showed everyone the postures and holds, and the steps. Then we all tried it. I was quite surprised that I did it without any difficulty. Everyone (including the teacher and dad) was shocked. And it was the same with Latin. The teacher said you needed to have a lot of sass in Latin which apparently I had. At the end of the class, the teacher said "I want you to participate in our dance lessons. We compete all over the country and we'd love you on our team. If you ask your parents to sign this and get back to me ASAP." He handed me a letter. I just smirked and passed it to dad. "Is this your father?" He asked. I smiled and nodded. "You got one talented girl right there." "You don't have to tell me." Dad grinned. "I didn't know you could move like that." "Believe me neither did I." There were whispers from the others but I didn't care. I went up to Carl. "Hey. You gonna wait for dad with me?" "Oh. I already planned to walk home with Enid." I didn't know what to say. Looks like I should get used to being blown off by my only friend...

So, as the weeks went by, I did my dance classes (I made sure it didn't clash with swimming), and everyone thought I was amazing - even the intermediate dancers! As for Carl, he kept blowing me off for Enid. They're a couple now by the way. Every time I asked him if he wanted to do something he always had plans with Enid. I've got my music assignment to think about - I love to sing but I'm nervous. Since I'm in my grad year, the grads are putting on a show and getting graded on it. All the school and even parents, friends etc can come too. So no pressure there. My mom dad and Aunt Jadis are obviously coming to the show. And the others will go for Carl and Enid. I just need to think what I can do.

Mom, dad and Aunt Jadis are off out tonight for a few drinks. "Honestly I don't need a babysitter. I'm 16. Go and have fun." I smiled at the three of them. I gave them a hug each before they went out. I just plonked myself on the sofa and watched some movies. I ended up dozing off.
