We stood side by side, staring down the train tracks in front of us.
"Here we are..." Shelby stated the obvious with wide eyes.
"Yeah," Cherry breathed out. We all loved the idea of doing this, but didn't think about what it'd be like to actually do it.
"C'mon, guys," Dolores snapped out of her trance, stepping onto the tracks. "Don't be pussies."
I followed behind Dolores, Cherry was behind me and Shelbs hesitantly followed her. So here we were, four young girls looking for a dead body. Though we wouldn't have admitted it in a million years, we were all terrified.
...
We had been walking the tracks for maybe 30 minutes now.
"Shelbs, would you stop drinkin' all my goddamn water?" Dolores bitched.
"I'm thirsty, Dolly!" Shelby replied as she stopped drinking from Dolores's canteen.
"Guys! Shh!" Cherry shushed us, pointing ahead. A few yards before us, four young boys sat on the tracks. We all looked at each other, confused. We slowly walked toward the boys, as if they were some sort of mythical creatures. We soon stood close enough for them to turn around and notice us. I then met the familiar blue-green eyes I had missed so dearly.
