Chapter 6: Explanations

Levi's Point of View

"I hate you! I hate you a lot!"

"Just stay out of my life."

I watched Iris walk out of the restaurant with both her fist clenched. For some reason, her words replayed in my mind.

Whenever she said she hated me, I couldn't reply. I just stared at her. I felt this aching feeling in my chest and I didn't know what it was.

Why the hell should I care if she hated me?

I left for a reason.

So why does my chest ache?

I clenched my jaw and fists, becoming angry at everyone and everything. I saw Jaeger coming over with an angry look on his face.

Jaeger...

I hate him even more...

"What the hell did you say to her?!" he said with a glare. "Why did she walk out just now?!"

I gave him a glare. "Tch. She's weak. She couldn't accept the truth and got mad over that fact," I spat.

"I swear if you said anything that was offensive to her I'll-"

"You'll what?" I said. "Beat me up? You and I both know how that'll turn out." I paused before saying, "This is between her and I."

"It's not while we're dating," he stated.

I scoffed. I opened my mouth to say something, but Petra slowly approached us. "Where's Iris?"

"She left," I said dryly.

"Don't talk to her again," Eren said, ignoring Petra. "Stay away from her also, jackass." He grabbed his jacket and headed towards the door.

"Levi?"

I pinched the bridge of my nose. "What?" I asked with annoyance.

"Um, maybe we should go," she said quietly. I sighed and stood up. I headed towards the door, Petra following behind me.

When we got outside, I didn't say anything. We walked side by side in silence. She broke it after a while by asking, "What happened?"

"Hamilton and I had an argument. She's a stubborn person. She got angry and left."

Petra nodded. "Did...did you two have a thing?"

I hesitated to answer. I nodded after a few seconds. "Yes. It was a long time ago," I assured her.

I heard her sigh of relief. She grabbed my hand. Her hand was soft, smooth, and warm. It was different from Iris's.

Why the hell do I remember that?

"How come you broke up with her?"

I tensed up.

I knew exactly why I broke up with her. I didn't break up with her for no reason. But it seemed like that since I never told her why.

She became so cold towards me, like the way she was when we first met. I was going to tell her after I realized how douchey I was, but she would never talk to me.

I eventually left. I left to attend a college, and I left so I could get away from Iris.

"Levi?"

I looked at Petra. "What?"

"Why did you break up with her?"

"It doesn't matter why," I stated. She got a slight frown. I sighed and kissed her softly on the lips. "Trust me, Hamilton and I have been broken up a long time."
