Chapter 10

Cody's POV

We arrived at Blackwell just on time. By now it was pouring down with rain, that beautiful sun I was looking at just merely a few hours ago completely vanished. "Thanks for the ride Chloe. Just on time for our lesson.". "Thanks for coming you guys. Sorry to be so boring." Chloe said. "you're not boring boring at all. I enjoyed spending time with you guys." I said. I could've sworn Chloe was a little red in the face. Chloe brushed it off smoothly. "Listen Max, your rewind power has to be connected to that snow yesterday. That might explain your tornado vision." "Explain what Chloe. That snow equals a ginormous twister that takes out Arcadia Bay? You're high." Max replied. "Wake up, Max.. You saved my life twice now." Chloe said, raising her voice a little so it's heard over the booming sound of rain splashing against the wind shield and partially to get Max to listen. "You altered the course of my destiny, yours, and whoever. Must be linked to chaos theory. You know what that is?" Chloe asked. I must've daydreamed and tuned out a bit of their conversation as the next thing I heard Chloe say was "Don't they teach you kids anything at Blackwell?" Chloe continued with "How can it be such a shitty week and yet one of the best of my life?". "Because we're back in action again! Not to mention another sidekick to join." Max said looking at me. Max and Chloe did a handshake before Max jumped out the car, waiting for me. 

Me and Chloe fist bumped and I was about to get out of the car myself before Chloe grabbed my arm. She must've shocked herself with the motive as her cheeks were red again. "Uh.. You doing anything after class? Maybe you can come to mine for a few hours and watch a few movies? Just us two. I'm planning on hanging with Max too, so don't worry I'm not replacing he--" I cut her off with a quick peck on her cheek. "Of course." I said. Backing away and smiling like an idiot at how dumbfounded Chloe looked. She was as red as a tomato and not just her cheeks. Her ears, neck and face in general looked like it was on fire. I waved before getting out. It took a few seconds for Chloe to come to and when she did she had a massive proud smile on her face, as if she accomplished something. She drove off soon after. Leaving me with a widely smirking Max. "Sooo.. what was that all about..hmm smoocher boy?" She questioned. Now it was my time to blush. "Uhh...nothing. Le--Let's go to class." I said, a stuttering mess before speed walking to class.

I can't believe I did that! Where did I get that confidence from!?.. Normally I am quite confident but ever since I've been hanging with Max and Chloe I always seem quiet and nervous and I can't place out why I feel like that.

I walked past Mr Jefferson and Kate's conversation and into class after briefly being told by Max that she was going to go see Warren in the science lab before class started. I ran into Nathan and Victoria sitting on Max's desk. "Shush, shush, Vic. We've got a criminals son in our sights. Watch it he might try to rob us of all of our rich goods." Nathan perked. "I wouldn't dream of robbing a rich snob. And if you'll excuse me can you please park your rusty engines someplace else. This is Max's desk." I said back to him. He got up shoving me to the floor as he did. "What ever dickhead." Nathan said before he and Victoria went to stand someplace else. Max, who had just entered the room and witnessed what had happened, came straight over to me and helped me up. "Thanks Cody, for getting rid of them." "No problem Max." I replied before taking my seat at the desk in front of Max's.

I looked back at Max and saw she was looking out the window. I looked in the general direction she was looking and saw Kate walking along the path and David Madsen was perched behind a tree with his camera out and taking photos of Kate. What a creep! I looked back at Max and we had the same look of disgust on our faces. Just then Warren walks in. He goes to Max's desk while I look at her and smirk. I overhear their conversation "What up, Max?" He asks.  "Hey, Warren!" Max said, sounding almost excited to see him. "I saw Kate earlier and her eyes were puffy from crying." He explained, looking distraught. "Kate has a lot on her plate..." Max replied. "I didn't know what to say, and she didn't tell me anything.." Warren said. Just then the bell rang and Mr Jefferson walked in "Okay, I know you love me, but if you're not in this class, beat it. Everybody else, please sit down." "Maybe I'll see you later?" Warren asks Max who nods her head. I looked at her briefly and could've sworn her cheeks were red. Yes something to tease Max about!
