Two months after their Engagement, Solaris wept for days over the death of Polaris. He sat alone at the edge of the Grand Canyon at dawn; he hadn't seen Lunaria in weeks. He wanted to be left alone to cope with the grief. He had just finished running across the canyon, he was shirtless; running took his mind off Polaris but only for a little while. He was leaning up against a lone tree to rest, not once did he look up at the sun as it slowly set on the horizon. He was staring at the golden whistle in his hand. In grief and in anger he tossed it over the edge before burying his head in his hands to sob. He saw a flash of silver light out of the corner of his eye it was Lunaria.

"Solaris..."

He turned to see her standing close to him she was wearing a short little black dress that showed off her curves beautifully, he would have blushed and stared at her with his mouth open in shock if he wasn't still in mourning. The dress was just barely above her knees she had a silver feather shawl over her shoulders (an engagement gift from Polaris) and a silver mourning veil on her head covering her silver eyes. She was still in mourning over Polaris's death. She saw the grief stricken look in Solaris's eyes and she knew he needed her to help cope with the grief of losing his close friend.

"Endor told me you would be here...He worries about you and so do the others...and I do too."

He didn't speak his eyes were bloodshot from weeping for the past two weeks. Lunaria sat down beside him wrapping her arms around him as she said softly.

"I know I miss him too..."

Just when he thought he had no more tears to shed Solaris started to sob, he could have helped that griffon thinking, 'Oh why did I have to get shot in the arm? Why did Polaris have to die?'

Lunaria felt his pain it weighed down on her heart like a heavy stone. She took a deep breath and spoke. "Atlanta says that you were lucky that arrow didn't pierce your heart."

She placed her hand over his heart her silver ring shined on her finger and she blinked in shock as he spoke to her his voice sounded broken. "I'm not so sure it didn't Lunaria..."

She turned to stare into his eyes he had lost a piece of his heart that she knew she would never be able to fill. As he placed his hand over hers, his golden ring shined with his grief. Lunaria stared at him in sorrow as she spoke trying to keep herself from crying.

"I loved Polaris just as much as you did....I owe, that griffon so much Solaris. He brought us together..." She broke down, "He died a hero...he died saving you...if I had lost you both, I---I don't what I would have done?"

He turned to see tears falling from her beautiful silver eyes his heart sank into the earth's core when he saw her tears. She was able to hide her grief but now she was the one who needed relief from her sorrows. He wrapped his arms around her holding her in his arms. His body was warm against her cold skin as she cried onto his shoulder. Solaris didn't know what else to do. He hated seeing her like this, so he did the only thing he could think of. He placed his hand under her chin and kissed her to help ease her pain.

Slowly she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close to her body as she moaned. She could hear his heart beating faster as she leaned into the kiss placing her hands upon his chest. He loved the cold touch of her hands they sent a chill up his spine that he loved. He placed his hands in her hair kissing her lips passionately. He needed her now more than ever he was smiling as he kissed her and leaned back against the tree with her leaning against him not caring what happened next. He had her and she had him, they would survive their grief together, their love would end their pain.
