Lunaria was waiting for Solaris to appear at the Grand Canyon at dawn she walked over to the edge and stared out at the canyon the sunrise was beautiful but the view was breathtaking. She was wondering when he would ever arrive fearing he wouldn't show she turned to leave but stopped when she heard a beautiful screech as a massive griffon came into view flying high in the sky and ridding that griffon was Solaris.
The griffon landed close to her as Solaris patted the beast and jumped off landing on his feet.

He smiled to her and said, "Sorry I'm late but I promised an old friend I'd say hello," He stroked the griffons feathers saying, "Lunaria meet Polaris King of the Griffons."

Lunaria was amazed by the beauty of Polaris she noticed the secondary silver feather on his head, chest, and wings but what surprised her the most were his eyes they were silver like hers. She smiled as Solaris walked over to her and gave her an orchid; he wore a Roman king's outfit with an olive leaf sunbeam crown and feathered cape made from Polaris's feathers.

He placed the flower in her hair and moved a piece of her hair back behind her ear making her blush a shade of scarlet. Polaris saw her blush at Solaris and he screeched in disgust. He feared that if they were to get too close that Solaris wouldn't spend time with him anymore.

Solaris smiled at her and said, "Would you like to ride Polaris?"

"If he doesn't mind me being on his back,"

"Oh I'm sure he doesn't mind...." Polaris was hurt that his feelings were taken for granted so he planned to scare Lunaria away. The moment they got on, he walked over to the edge, and slowly unfolded his massive wings ready to fly. Lunaria was sitting behind Solaris. He turned to her with an alluring smile, "Hold on tight,"

She wrapped her arms around him as tight as she could and rested her head against his upper back. Color crept up Solaris's neck to his face as he tried to fight back the blush.

He then snapped the reins, "Ayah!" but without warning Polaris dove straight down off the edge of the Canyon wall! Lunaria was screaming in his ear as he tried to gain control finally he leveled out he glared at Polaris.

"What was that Polaris?" He then mumbled under his breath he said. "Thanks for nothing Polaris....I'm trying to get her to like me, not hate me!" Polaris heard him and tried to shake him off, Solaris yelled in fear as he grabbed at the reins pulling on them tightly. "OKAY, OKAY I'M SORRY FOR INSULTING YOU!"

Polaris stopped satisfied that he got his point across. Lunaria however was clinging to Solaris eyes closed tight she was terrified of falling off and after the stunt Polaris pulled diving off the edge and trying to shake Solaris off him for insulting him she was terrified.

That alone was enough to frighten anyone, but the more she thought about what she was afraid of, the more she realized she wasn't really afraid of Polaris or falling to her death. Instead this was a fear she was fighting back inside her heart for a long time now, ever since the first time she met Solaris at dusk. It was the feeling that made her head spin and heart beat faster as she clung to him. It was love, and she was afraid to tell him.

Solaris turned around and saw how scared Lunaria was and his heart broke. He had to do something to make this date end happily.
Suddenly Lunaria felt his hand under her chin and he lifted her head up so he could stare into her eyes. She saw a look in his eyes that she had never seen before it was kind, but it was also loving. It was a look she had watched people get towards someone they have feelings for...it was love.

He smiled his golden eyes shined brightly into hers as he leaned forward to bridge the gap between them as his lips met hers. He only kissed her to calm her down and to be honest he didn't even realize what he was doing until she had leaned into the kiss wrapping her arms around his neck as the blush slowly crept up into her ivory face. They pulled away and stared into each other's eyes blinking in shock.

He had to tell her how he felt, "Lunaria....I---I," he was blushing as he stared into her beautiful silver eyes that shined like the moon rendering him speechless and he gulped with a case of nerves.

"Yes, Solaris...?" Her eyes were full of hope. He was at war with himself he wanted to tell her so badly it hurt, but fear clouded his mind. What if he told her, and she didn't feel the same he would look like a fool, but then why did she kiss him if she didn't like him? Why was it so hard to tell her? She could feel the pain in his heart and see it in his eyes.

"It's okay if you don't feel comfortable telling me Solaris I understand..." She was a little hurt when she said that but she would respect his wishes.

He saw the hurt look in her eyes; no, this was not how this date was going to end! Finally, he told her. "Lunaria, I love you."

His words hung in the air, time stopped as she caught her breath and blinked trying to process what she had just heard as a love struck smile crept across her face before leaning forward so she was an inch away from him as she spoke, "I love you to," and kissed him lovingly in return.

Solaris smiled as he hoped it would never end, but it would end when dawn ended they would have to say goodbye and wait until dusk to meet again. He could wait as long as it takes to see her silver eyes again, he told her he loved her and she felt the same. Lunaria was kissing him passionately now as her long black hair flowed behind her in the wind. She was happy as the fear in her heart melted away.
