"That sounded great Grace," I complimented the singer after she finished running through the chorus of her latest song for the second time. Harry gave her a thumbs up from behind me. She let out a gleeful giggle as she removed her headphones.
"Thanks guys," she smiled as she came out of the recording booth. They worked on brainstorming lyrics and song ideas while I listened to the audio over again. I made some quick changes, added some effects here and there, and put all the pieces together.
I removed my headphones so that I could speak to Grace, but I was stopped in my tracks by the sound of a soft knock on the door. Before I could even make a move toward it, Grace had opened the door.
"Hey little guy," I heard her say before I saw who she was talking to. She made way for the guest to enter and that's when I saw my little boy.
"Mommy!" he yelled before running into my arms. I gave him a big squeeze before sitting him on my lap.
"Hi bud," I smiled looking down at him. "What are you doing here?"
"We come bearing gifts," a new voice says from the doorway. I look up and see Marco standing there, a bouquet of roses in hand. "Sorry about that," he apologizes, looking at Aiden, "he ran off ahead of me."
"It's okay," I smiled. It had been a few days since that night. We've talked about it and he promised to do better, so we're doing good now. The moment I heard a cough I remembered that there were others in the room. "Oh right. Uh, Grace, Harry, this is Marco and Aiden," I said pointing at each one as I introduced them.
"Hi Grace, hi Harry," Aiden waved vigorously at them. He hopped down from my lap and ran over to the pair.
"Aren't you a cutie," Grace smiled as she pinched his cheek. "How old are you?"
"I'm five!" He shouted while holding up his fingers. While the two interacted, Harry sat silently watching the pair. There was a look of questioning his eyes but he said nothing.
"These are for you," Marco said as he handed me a card and flowers. I open the card and noticed that it was in Aiden's handwriting. 'Happy Mother's Day' was scribbled along the center of the page and a drawing of the three of us rested at the bottom.
"Do you like it mommy? I made it just for you," Aiden asked from his spot between Harry and Grace.
"I love it bud, thank you," I opened my arms to which he ran into for a hug. I planted a kiss on the top of his head before taking the flowers from Marco. "Thanks."
"You're welcome," he said before kissing my cheek.
"Well, I'll see you guys at home later," I placed the card and flowers down on the workstation. "We're just finishing up so I shouldn't be long."
They both said bye (Aiden more enthusiastically as he was happy to have met Grace and Harry) and left me to finish what we had started.

I'm back! Did ya miss me? I missed you guys. I'm finally done with classes for the semester so I had time to finish this chapter. I know it's not the best or the longest but it's kind of a filler kind of a building block for what's to come so it was necessary. If there are any errors,I'm sorry I'm doing this on my phone because I'm too lazy to get up and get my laptop to finish it so if you notice anything please let me know and I'll try to fix it as soon as possible. Not sure when the next chapter will be up as I'll be busy with work during break but I'll try.
