I flip through a book looking on information on Ardor, an energy all Mavors produce. All except me. The doctor gave it to me hoping their might be something in there to help me. Today was another appointment.
Another day of scans and blood work. I get up and put my book back onto the shelf. I went to my closet and got my jacket. Sometimes he had the room freezing cold for the wild amicus that visit him.
I zip up my jacket and leave my room. I'm greeted by Mom's amicus, Carus. Her tail started to wag a little. "Hey Vitrea, are you heading out early?" She asks curious.
"Yeah sorry Carus. I'll play with you after my appointment." I pet her behind her ear. She leans into my hand a little. "You're a good pup. I'll be back soon." I promised and headed out.
The sky was as beautiful as ever. The sun was always on the horizon causing the sky to have a wonderful range of colors. Going from red to orange to blue. My parents don't tend to appreciate it as much. They just say it always like that.
I watch as people walk by with their Amicus following them. The school said I couldn't get an amicus when I graduate. Amicus copy the powers of Mavors. Mavors put their ardor energy into special crystals that allow Mavors to use it. Since I don't have Ardor energy they said it'd be a waste of an Amicus.
I sigh and just keep walking. I had to focus on getting better. I'll show them. I'll become a Major just like my parents. I stop in front of the doctors office and glance through the windows. As usual it only had a few people. One of which was a wild Amicus. I head inside and sit down on a bench waiting.
The Amicus looks at me curiously. It's fur was much thicker than tame Amicus. Wild amicus live in the artic zone in caves. They only come to town when they want to trade for Ardor crystals or if they want to join the city. Joining the city required a physical so they tend to come here.
The Amicus walks up to my curiously. "Hey there." He says a nervous. "Do you know what the physical is like?" He asks. I smile a little. "He just runs some tests to see how healthy you are." I explained. "Are you wanting to be paired soon?"
The amicus nods. "Yeah I'm almost 6 months old." He says softly. "Alpha said that it might be better for me here. Especially if I'm in the guardian program so I don't have to get into that many fights." He says shyly.
"Oh that's the one that General Fortis made right? Where they send a team of Mavors and their Amicus to defend a planet?" I ask. I wasn't too up to date with the school programs. I was usually stuck in the doctor's office.
He nods. "Yeah I think that's right. I'm not sure how they decide the teams though. I just hope I can join."
