trust issues

you know everything about her,
and that terrifies her.
you know about her
dark past,
involving a drunken father
and a fragile mother.
you know about her
odd fear of public bars,
in which they always reminded
her of the endless amounts
of bottles shattered on
the hardwood floor back home.
and her fear of the authority-
seeing the red and blue lights
passing by gave her
anxiety, flashing back to when
mommy was lying on the floor
being carried out in a stretcher,
and daddy was being handcuffed
and forced out of the house and
into a police car.
you knew everything about her,

but no matter how terrifying that
is to her,
she trusts you.
and trusting anyone was a
hard thing for her to do,
especially after she watched
the life of her own mother
being taken away from her
by the one man in her life
who was supposed
to love her most.
