Answers were her goal. Nothing would stand in her way no matter what he said. She, Lola was going to beat him with ease. She just needed to find the right book first.

Hours passed and she was on the verge of giving up. She rose from her seat and glided to a fresh pair of book cases. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath and plunged her right arm forward. Then she traced her fingers across the sacred spines as the incense of pine wood chocked her nostrils dry. The fragrance was firm and danced it's sent far and wide, making her think of home. The peace and gentle strokes of the countryside and the longing to return tugged on her heart strings.

Finally, her fingers stopped and they lay to rest on one of the shorter spines. Opening her eyes she was faced with a thick yet delicate book. Her fingers pushed it down slowly and she carefully dragged the book out on its side. Turning the book to face her she blew the dust off as it faced forward. The title was engraved in a large florescent text and below it held a small caption. The captain read 'the book of the undead gods' and the title in all it's glory read ' The Demon's Centre ' . She had finally found the right one.

Just as she was about to open the book. The lights died and the room felt cold. She went to close her arms around the book however, it was gone. Darn where was it. Abruptly, the lights flashed on again and the heat settled back into the room. Just as she was about to turn around an echo filled the room. The same harmonious laughter as before. Just great!

"Clever girl, your quick I knew I liked you"

His grin pierced her ego, she had found the right book and had been so close. But of course all he allowed her was to touch it. To read the cover yet nothing more. Of course she wasn't allowed to open it and read it's contents just typical.

"Oh dear, what's wrong you look sad. But I thought I'd warned you, this wasn't going to be easy. You knew that but your still looking sad. It's ok I can reward you if you like. Seeing as you've done a good job. Do you want it?"

Patronising her great! What was he planning to do now...
