Chapter 48

I tapped my foot nervously on the ground, as I waited in the hospital lobby. After talking to Trey a few das ago, I decided to finally suck it up and get this paternity test done. I glanced over at August, who was filling out my forms for me, since I was to nervous to write.

To my suprise, I wasn't the only pregnant women here today for this test. It kind of made me feel better, but not by that much. "Stop tappin." August said placing a hand on my knee. "Calm down, you good." I nodded. "My bad, Im just nervous, that's all." He placed the cliboard in the seat beside him and turned to me.

"Can you chill?" He started. "I told you to stop stressin." I took a deep breath and released it slowly to calm my nerves. "I don't see how you can be so calm about this, have you thought about what's gunna happen if.....your not the father?" I asked whispering the last part. "I have." He said while nodding. "...And?"

He shrugged. "Ain't nothing gon change between you and me, you still gon live with me and we still gon be together." I sat back my seat suprised. "...So you'll be okay with me having Trey's baby?" He rubbed his chin unncomfortably. "I ain't say that, but I'll deal with it. At the end of the day it's all good cause I'll get you knocked up again, Im sure." I chuckled and shook my head. "Right." He placed his hand on mine and smiled. "We'll be fine."

"Afternoon y'all." August and I both looked up to see Trey walking towards us. "Hey." I said giving him a small smile. He sat on the opposite side of me and gave August a head nod. "You okay? You look a little uneasy." I nodded. "Im fine, I just wanna get this over with it." He sighed. "I know."

"Ms.Smith?" I stood up from my chair once the nurse called my name. "The Doctor's ready to see you know." I nodded. I turned to August and took the clipboard from him. "You ready ma?" "I guess." I turned on my heels and followed the nurse back into one of the examination rooms. Once all three of us got settled inside, my nerves were at a all time high.

"Agian, thanks Simone for doing this, I really appreciate it." Trey said. I cracked a small smile. "It's fine, it's about time the two of you know the truth. I sat up on the examination table and waited for the doctor to enter the room.

"So how long does it take for the resutls to come back?" . "Nine business days." I sighed. "We'll send them in the mail to the address you provided." I turned to August and he nodded. "That's fine."

THE NEXT DAY-AUGUST P.O.V.

"So what are your plans for the weekend?" Ariana asked me as she watched me drive. "Nothing special, ima just stay in and chill with the fam, help them get settled into the guest house." She smirked. "Oh, I didn't know your family was here." "Well not my family, Simone's family..but you know." She nodded slowly. "Oh right....I met her mother and sister last time I came over...I didn't know they lived here." She lifted a brow and turned to me.

"...Yeah, they just moved in not to long ago." She smiled. "Oh, that's nice." She turned and looked out the window.

I stared up at the monitor, while Ariana was getting checked out. "Your doing great." Ariana's doctor said, finally speaking up.

Just then my phone rang in my pocket. I took it out and glanced at the screen. I immediately stood up from my seat once I seen "Exuse me." I stepped out into the hallway and answered the phone.

ME: "Hello?"

BRUTUS: "I picked up the phone records you requested."

I took a sigh of relief. Since I had to go with Ariana to her appointment today, I needed someone to go into the phone store for me and get the records I needed, and I knew Brutus would be the best person to do it.

ME: "Good, put it in my mailbox and I'll be home later to get it."

BRUTUS: "Sure."

ME: "Ight thanks."

I hung up the phone and steped back into the examination room.

"I'll see you in two weeks right?" Ariana asked undoing her seatbelt. "Yeah, you already know that." She smiled. "I know, I just like making sure." She slid out the car and shut the door. "Bye August." She waved and watched me drive off.

ARIANA P.O.V.

Once August was out of sight, I raced inside my apartment, and dialed Jahkeem's number. I knew he was going to be happy with the news I had to share, and I couldn't wait until later. I smiled once I heard his voice.

JAHKEEM: "Hello?"

ME: "I found out where Simone's family is staying."

JAHKEEM: "Where?"

ME: "August has this guest house across from his house so they're staying there."

JAHKEEM: "Mmm..and how long are they going to be there?"

ME: "August told me that they moved here, officially."

JAHKEEM: "This is making everything easier for me, can you meet me tommorow?"

ME: "Yeah sure."

JAHKEEM: "Ight."

SIMONE P.O.V.

I carefully applied my lipstick in the mirror, as August drove to the place we were having dinner at tonight. "How was your day?" I dropped my lipstick back in my bag and turned to him. "It was ight." I frowned. "You alright?"

"Yeah.." He nodded an rubbed the back of his head. "No your not, what's going on?" He sighed. "I was gunna wait until after dinner to tell you this, but I got Ariana's phone records today." My eyes grew wide. "What? What happened? Did you find anything suspicious??" He sighed again. "Look for yourself, the papers in the backseat." I reached behind me and picked up the envelope that was sitting on the seat.

I quickly opened it and began to read. "...Visler County Jail?" I asked confused. I looked up from the paper and stared at the side of Augusts' face. "I was confused too." He started. "Why would she be taking calls from Jail?? Does she know someone there?" He shook his head. "Not that I know of." I looked back down at the paper and began to read the dates.

"I wonder who she was talkin to." I was silent. "She never mentioned anybody in jail." He continued. I looked up from the paper once I thought of something. "....Do you think it was Jahkeem?" August frowned. "Jahkeem? Your ex's brother?" I nodded. "Yeah, they were talking before and nobody knew about it, do you think they would try it again?"

He sighed and shrugged. "Ion know, maybe." I looked down at the paper and shook my head. "All the dates add up, it kinda makes sense." He pulled into the resturant's parking lot and pulled into a space. "Even if she was talking to him, what would they be talkin about??" He asked me.

"I don't know." I said in sigh. "But if she is talking to Jahkeem, it'a nothing good...you heard what he said to me at the Christmas party, he's not gunna stop until he gets me." He rubbed his chin and undid his seatbelt. "So what you think? Ariana working with or something?" I nodded. "It wouldn't suprise me." He sighed and threw his hands up.

"Look, let's talk about this after dinner ight? I just wanna enjoy my time with you ma." I sighed and placed the paper to the side. "Okay, but just know, if I find out that she had ANYTHING to do with those pills in my drink, it's her ass, and I mean it."
