War,

it is among us

it happens all the time

countless soldiers lost, many wounded, families torn apart.

I was torn from my thoughts by a tap on my shoulder, I turned around to see Shiro looking at me worriedly.

"(y/n) you ok? you're looking a little pale."

I smiled weakly at Shiro as I turned away from the jet window.

"Just worried about this war with the aliens Zarkon has summoned."

he rested his hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry everything will be ok."

I smiled and put my hand atop his. he smiled as he pulled away to go check to see if we had landed yet.

I sighed as I continued to stare out the window.

(Shiros Pov)

I planned to propose to (Y/n) after the war, so we could both happily retire.

I reached into my pocket hoping to find the box, which was there. I sighed in relief as I turned to see (Y/N) looking rather worried. I never knew that battles like these would scare her. she was after all forced to go through ruthless assassin training.

I approached her and gently said her name. she turned around, her face looking very pale.

the jet landed in a destroyed area.

"this is it!"

lance called out as he reached for his bow. Keith put on his iron man helmet and Allura picked up her hammer. I reached for Shiro's shield and my two pistols. I handed Shiro his shield and secured the two pistols in my pockets. as I looked down to place my gun in my pockets I saw a small black box. I picked it up and placed it in my pocket. I could give it to the rightful owner after the battle if I survived. I followed Shiro out of the ship and into the now destroyed part of New York.

the battle had just begun...

~ time skip ~

I reloaded my pistols as I had just finished off the last of the monsters. The Avengers and I were in a circle fending off the monsters. Hunk had joined us, but he was transformed into the Hulk at the moment. Shiro and I were back to back as he threw his shield at the grotesque (Membean word!!) monsters. I shot another monster in the head and I turned to Shiro.

"SOMEONE NEEDS TO CLOSE THAT PORTAL!"

I yelled as I fired an electric shock from my wristbands.

"(y/n)! Go! I can handle them from here."

I turned around to face Shiro with a look of doubt painted across my face.

"stay safe baby."

I whispered as I pecked him on the lips. He smiled as he ran off to a group of monsters. I turned to Keith and pointed to the top of the building where the portal was located at. Keith realized what I was gesturing to and grabbed my arms.

"Hold on tight!"

(Shiros POV)

The battle had finally ended and we were all crowded around a now conscious Keith. I reached for my pocket realizing that this would be a good time to propose to (Y/N). But as I reached into my pocket I couldn't find a trace of the box.

what if something happened to the ring?

I looked around the area but saw no trace of the black box. suddenly I saw the familiar shape of the box in (Y/N)'s pocket. A sly smirk spread across my face as I walked towards her. I slid my hand into her back pocket as I wrapped my other hand around her shoulders. she turned around surprised and tense at first but then relaxed as she realized it was me.

"victory is ours I guess," she said as she smiled. I leaned in and kissed her on the lips for a split second.

Shiro suddenly pulled away from the kiss and dropped to one knee. he pulled out the black box that I had found earlier and opened it to reveal a small diamond ring. I gasped as Shiro asked me the question

"(Y/N) will you marry me?"

I gasped in excitement.

"Yes yes yes!"

I said overjoyed.

I took the ring and placed it on my finger as I pulled Shiro into a giant hug.

"I love you so much, Shiro."

I said as I whispered into his ear.
