It's mid-September now, the temperature dropped, the rain seems colder than ever, and you just want to snuggle in a blanket half the time. I haven't even switched to my fall clothes, but really I would much rather wait until I finally leave Seattle. Yes, I am going to leave Seattle. My hometown will just become a distant memory, cause I might be possibly leaving everything behind.
August came around the corner and before I knew it I was back in school. A week after I talked to the Dean, he gave me a call, asking me to come in as soon as possible. It was not only great news that I got accepted into the school, but into the EYO Program as well. He had me start mid-August, with all the information I had to know to pass the mid-term in order to be able to go off in another country. My mid-terms were four days ago, and yesterday I got my results in the mail. I was allowed to transfer out. I ran down to the collage to talk to the Dean and to my luck, there was a sister school in London that I could continue my studies in, a perfect school to help shape my culinary skills.
At first, I didn't think I could go because although the trip would be paid, the dorms over there didn't exactly catch my eye. I didn't want to have rules, especially ones that limited Harry's time with me. I was about to settle for them when I got a notice from my land lord saying that my apartment was rented at a really high price! Apparently my "great publicity" made the apartment more pricey and he gave me half the cut. I could totally afford rent for a year without having to work with that cut!
I sold most of my furniture, just leaving a couple things here and there, so I could have some spare cash. My place looked empty, but that hollowness didn't affect me as much anymore, because as soon as I land in London, Harry will be there to fill me up again. With complete happiness. Not to mention I had talked to Jaime about working in London's Little Miss Ann's, not wanting to leave the business, and he agreed to it. He gave me only part time, considering I was going to school, and he promised to not cut my pay, hoping I become a wonderful pastry chef.
I think saying goodbye to Shannon was the hardest, she was so sad when I told her I wouldn't live in the same continent as her. She cried but then took me out to celebrate, with the small paparazzi around as always, and has congratulated me on my success. I also called Carol, who was caught up with her own things to let me know she was no longer in Washington but had took the offer in Florida and was now enjoying the sun all the time. She cried as well when I told her the news. She promised to visit me often, but knowing how her new boyfriend is treating her, "like a princess" quoted by her, I don't think I'll be seeing a lot of her. Maybe once she gets married.
Honestly, I've also tried contacting Mark, because I feel like it was because of him I took this leap of faith. Unfortunately, whenever I tried to call him in July, he had either gotten a new number or was totally ignoring me. Either way, I didn't much care because it was just to thank him for his kind words.
I put most of my shoes into the duffle bag and brought it to the pile that I was making in the living room of all my things. I just had my carry-on to fix up and I think that would be everything. Unless I plan on taking my fridge with me. I passed by the Mac, stopping to look at it.
It's been four months since Harry left. He called me for about the first three weeks, but they stopped after that. The Skyping did as well, he was never on when we agreed to be on. The text messaging stopped as well. I figured it had something to do with is job, last time I talked to him he was going off into the studio to start recording his new album. I suppose he hardly has any time for himself, so I don't get mad. I just miss him so much. Same with Lou, he is a whole other story of crazy. I miss everyone actually. He doesn't know how much this Mac helped me out into going over there.
I think the crazy part was that no one knew I was heading over there. I hadn't gotten a chance to mention it, thinking it'd be a better thing if I surprised them. Luckily I did get the address of his "flat", as they say in England, which he happens to share with Lou. He didn't catch on to why I was asking, so it all worked out for the best.
I grabbed my laptop and slipped it into my carry-on. After packing a couple more important things into it, I put it into the pile along with the rest of my luggage. I'm not sure why, but I suddenly had the long desire to cry. I laid in bed and let my tears fall, what I couldn't understand is why I was. I closed my eyes and tried to drown out the feeling.
"Alaine! Come here darling!" my mom shouted.
I ran down the stairs, smelling the cinnamon candles my mom had set out every other week to make the house smell as great as it could. The last step I jumped, making my light pink dress bounce. My white ballet flats helping me land beautifully, I pranced to the kitchen, finding my mom and dad sitting on the island.
"Honey we are so proud of you! We saw your amazing spelling test! Congrats baby girl!" dad said.
"We thought you might enjoy your favorite cake as a present!" mom said, putting my favorite type of cake I could ever ask for. It was rain bowed with white frosting and chocolate sprinkles. I jumped on a stool with a smile painted on my face.
"We're so proud of you Alaine, you're going to be one great woman one day."

I got into the cab and I gave him directions to where I was headed off to. I couldn't believe I was here. First thing I had to do was go exchange my pocket money, I had already opened an account here, transferring all of my savings. When I put the 243 euros in my purse, I ran to the cab and decided to head over to Harry's apartment. I mean flat. I had to get used to these terms! I would be here for a long time. Maybe possibly forever.
We arrived at the entrance and I asked the taxi driver if he could wait here until I came down with someone to help me with all the luggage. He nodded, saying it was his pleasure. I got out, looking up and seeing Big Ben shine and rushed up to the flat, which was higher than I thought. I took the elevator and arrived on a top floor. I started looking at the flat numbers until I saw which one was written in my notes on my phone.
I looked down at the knob and saw the door just a tad bit ajar. Why was his door open? Was he really that comfortable with his neighbors to just leave the door open. Anyone could come in for heavens sake! I looked around, making sure no one saw me come in. I haven't had contact with Lou, so if I saw him here, I have to quickly shush him to surprise Harry.
I pushed the door back to find the place to be enormous. Entering, I saw the living room with the shades drawn. The window must be big to have those shades so tall. The island was long, probably granite, and the kitchen looked marvelous from the lack of light there was in here. I heard a door knob twist and open. I quickly hid near a closet near the entrance, I saw Harry come out in just a towel, his curls hanging down. I almost forgot I was here to surprise him if he had stopped to notice the door open.
I jumped out saying "Harry!" opening my arms out to him with a big smile on my face. He stared at me, his emerald eyes not glistening the way they used to. His lips didn't curve, twitch or more, all his muscles seemed to tense up and he looked almost like a statue. Almost hard to tell if he was breathing as I couldn't even see his chest rise or fall. I let my arms fall and walked over to him.
"Harry its me! I'm here, I came for you cause opportunity came knocking at my door." I was near his face, smelling his shampoo and heat radiating off of him, only making me want to throw my arms around his and be in that warmth. "I missed you, I couldn't deny a chance that fate had presented itself at my door. I love y-"
"Harry where is the shamp-"
I looked over, to see long brown blonde damp hair hanging from a perfectly tanned face, whose eye's seemed so clear yet piercingly fierce, a thick body forming behind the robe she wore, she stood at the door way of the bathroom. I looked at the mirror to see hand prints breaking the steam it held.
"Caroline." he said, looking at her running his hand through his curls.
