His eyes were so content with the moment, the time, not one moment escaped him. He didn't seem to want to let go of the tight grasp he had on me. His hand holding mine only strengthened that argument. Louis abruptly hugged me, a hug so strong I let go of Harry's hand but never his eyes, they wouldn't let me go. They looked as if they were filled with sadness, or worse, sympathy.
"Laney! What are you doing here alone?" he asked.
"I came for some food, I was hungry so I walked. I'm actually pretty lost." I say, finally looking away from Harry and at Louis. He seemed as energetic as he was before when I first met him.
"But you're not suppose to be here alone." Harry said, his face as serious as ever.
"We heard about what happened to you. I flipped out wanting to punch someone so badly! Are you feeling better now?" Louis asked, concern on his face. I saw Harry look at me, that same serious face on, listening to what I was about to say.
"Yes, I am. I don't have pain anymore. A couple nightmares but I'm doing fine."
"We have to talk Alaine. Can we? Here give me your number." Louis said, taking out his iPhone where the dial is ready for me to give him my number. I admit, I miss Lou. He was the best friend anyone could ever ask for. I mean, Harry's issues shouldn't be Louis's and my issue. I type in the number and watch as Harry tries to look distracted at this transaction.
"I really hope you are safe Alaine. I don't wan that to happen ever again. You don't know how my heart dropped when I heard it on the news." Lou said, hugging me. I hugged back, feeling his sadness pour into me. I would feel the same way if I was in his shoes. I looked over his shoulder to see Harry looking at us. He seemed too quiet.
"Please, this has to happen more often. We need to hangout. I'm going to go get some food too, I'll call you!" he said, walking away from us and having just cold air separate Harry and I.
I wanted to pull Louis arm and stop him from doing this on purpose. He always made things intentionally awkward, but I didn't act fast enough to catch him. He disappeared into a sandwich shop and Harry looked back at me. I swallowed a lot of pain and then just nodded at him and walked the other way. There was an alley and I decided to take a short cut through it, maybe it would lead me to Mark faster. I got to a dumpster when I heard the tapping of shoes behind me and Harry shouting "Alaine!"
He grabbed my arm and turned me to face him. I felt his breath on my cheeks as I saw he was just catching up to it. I felt my nervous system breaking down, but I had to say something.
"Harry, I have to go."
"Please... stop. Alaine... I've been worried sick about you. Ever since I saw you on the news, my heart wont stop aching. My mind wont stop racing, and my soul wont stop breaking. I got so scared because they never mentioned if you were dead or alive. They just mentioned the incident and I could have sworn I lost you forever." he said.
"You did loose me forever. Just because I could've died doesn't mean you had lost me."
"I don't think that." he replied so quickly.
"I'm not thinking about you at all Styles. I don't need you in my life. I'm doing just fine."
He smirked. Gosh that damn smirk. Alaine, focus. "Doing fine doesn't mean you're doing great."
I was about to protest but nothing came out of my mouth and he took it as a victory. He stepped closer and I took a step back, he noticed this and continued until I hit the dumpster.
"I miss you everyday Alaine." Harry whispered to me, his eyes narrowing to mine. I felt my breath get caught in my throat. I don't need him, I don't need him.
