Chase's Spying Days I

Being completely honest, Chase never thought something like this could bother him that much. He probably didn't even know why he was doing it. Curiosity? Excuses. Anxiety? I don't think so. But there he was, getting yelled over being nosy by a very tactful best friend. If it had been anyone else, he would have got his tail bitten a while ago, but no. Marshall was a perfect match as a best friend, he was patient, comprehensive, funny and quite naive. Now, for him to burst out like that...

Their tags lit up in a crucial moment, and Chase cursed the only person he thought he wouldn't ever say anything mean to. Chase and Marshall headed over to the Lookout, with Marshall promising to explain everything to his friend, which was kind of relieving, since the Shepherd knows that he wouldn't break a promise. He just had to wait a bit longer.

Normal routine, everyone got into the elevator, Everest too, Marshall tripped over some random stuff again, made a quick joke, and that was it. All seven pups were lined up in front of the screen, and Chase spoke first.

"Thanks for coming so fast." said Ryder. "We have a situation going on. Cap'n Turbot just warned me about a snow storm that rolled in during the night, similar to the one we had to deal with some months ago. Mayor Goodway and a group of skiers were seen going up to Jake's Mountain. We have to warn them before they get lost, or worse."

Chase looked through the window, and then back to his partners. He guessed that they would need either Skye or him to get there faster, but knowing Ryder, he was probably not taking any chances, so he would send Everest instead to get through the snow fast, and Marshall if someone was injured. "I will need Everest, we need you to lead us through the mountain quickly."

"Ice or snow, I'm ready to go!"

"And Marshall. In case anyone is hurt, I need you to aid them and carry them in your ambulance."

"I'm ready for a ruff-ruff rescue!"

Knew it. Way too easy. thought Chase, seen his friends dash off to the mission. Now to wait until they come back.

Living somewhere like the Lookout seems funnier than it actually is, there are times when you just have so many options that you just feel like doing anything and get really, but really bored. Playing with friends is always a good idea, but now Zuma and Rocky where nowhere to be found, and Chase didn't want to approach Skye alone at the moment, for obvious reasons. So, the only thing he did was lay flat on a beanbag next to Rubble and watch Apolo for fifteen minutes before dozing off.

4 hours later, sirens could be heard from the bridge. The police pup had woken up an hour before, and was waiting patiently in front of the gates. Once the vehicles were parked  Everest and Marshall leaped off, the former quickly saying hi before running into the tower, while the latter looked just tired out, not really looking anywhere else but in direction to his pup house. It was so odd that Chase doubted for a second about asking.

Should I...?

"Eh, Marshall!" shouted Chase, stopping the Dalmation from entering the door. "About earlier-"

"Not now Chase..." yawned Marshall, slowly making his way into his bed and shutting the door.

... damn, he's pissed.

"I don't know why you even try, Zuma. You'll never win against me in this!" yipped Skye, jumping and flipping in the

"We're 26 to 25 on your favour, shut up and dance! Bite the dust!"

"In your dreams!"

The match ended up in a tie again. Zuma raised his paw like a fist in victory, mocking Skye in the process. "Rematch!" yelled the latter.

"You're on!"

She's so cute when she gets competitive... commented Chase in his head. He had been watching them play Pup Pup Boogie since Marshall evaded him. That goofy smile he showed every time he takes a glance at Skye could only be compared with... actually, there is no comparison, he looks creepy as hell.

I wonder if they're planning on playing this for the pajama party. Now that would totally be-

Chase stopped his thoughts and finally god rid of that creepy look, something popped in his head. He had an idea for the night.

I got it.
